pink tutu attack: Suspect arrested

.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-29898366

A suspect is being held in connection with an attack in which the victims were injured by two men dressed in pink ballet tutus, in south-west London.

The 26-year-old is being held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, the Met said.

He was detained after Robert Kingsford was beaten as he tried to help a friend who was being punched in Surbiton.

Mr Kingsford, 21, was kicked and stamped on during the alleged homophobic attack by two white men.

Officers are still hunting the second suspect.

The arrested suspect is being held at a west London station, and is also being questioned on suspicion of common assault.

'Violent and unprovoked'

Mr Kingsford and his friend were attacked at about 01:20 on Saturday when they were walking along Victoria Road.

As they passed a group of two men and three women outside the YMCA they were subjected to homophobic abuse by one of the men, police said.

They walked away but were then approached by the men who punched Mr Kingsford's friend.

When he intervened, Mr Kingsford suffered severe cuts and bruises, black eyes and swollen lips in the attack, which was stopped when passers-by intervened.

Trainee Det Con Ann-Marie Hodgkiss, the officer leading the investigation, said: "This was a violent and unprovoked hate crime and I am appealing for anyone with any information about the incident to contact me."

Note that the BBC said they were white

I daresay that the two 'men' in pink tutus were gayers, which means it wasn't homophobic.

I've skimmed through 5 reports of this, only the BBC say the attackers were white.

Do you think they have an agenda?

(both nicked now anyway)
