We don't have trick or treaters. America hasn't made it this far yet; though for the last couple of years, I've laid in some of Mr Kipling's Fiendish Fancies and Fun Size Mars Bars, just in case.

Fun sized chocolate in a bowl at the front door with a sign saying don't knock, help yourself.  The downside is when the young hoodlums fill their boots.

Cadburys heroes. You have to sample them to make sure they haven't gone off.

We only get young'uns round our way, usually in groups of 3 or 4, and all accompanied by a parent.  The last lot came at about 7-30. Mrs CMAT estimates 40 kids all told, and the dog never barked once.

Won't beat the ones we had a few years ago from the local college. Sixth form female students dressed as sexy nurses. Not exactly halloween cozzies but I didn't care Laugh I didn't notice what the blokes were wearing.

Round where I live, the done things is that if you have a pumpkin outside your house you will accept trick or treaters. If no pumpkin, you don't knock. Pretty much everyone goes out with an adult standing in the background. Nice as only once a year. Tonight my 10 yr old got a mini babybel from one house...what next? pepperami? Nobody even says treat or treat, just happy halloween before taking the goodies and then hopefully a thank you. It's changed a bit from my day where I live but thank God for that!
Report Crisp77 October 31, 2014 11:43 PM GMT

Used to really get involved and to have a laugh with the kids, and tell them my glass of red wine was a young maiden's blood (which they probably didn't understand) and say things like "so you will give me a treat or I'll play a trick on you".

The more generous I was, the more they came in droves.

Big grumble was that some were far too old to be doing it and somewhat intimidating.

Also gypsy kids came with their parents, and always asked for money so they got what I wanted to give.

Now they can't get in as the gates are locked and the outside lighting is off except for movement closer to the house.
