still watching, reflections from last;
* Prospect of international sex trafficing opened up, garage 'professionally' cleaned * Nesbitt''s violent past and missing 9 minutes * Ken Stott in cahoots with Monsieur le Juge * Shady journalist claims to know what happened to Olly Queries; * Who is Stott painting when he says "Hello Sweetheart" * Who is the hotel owners brother? (Monsieur le Juge?) * Strong chance that the English Police Liason Officer tipped the tafficking ring off, hence the warehouse being empty when ambushed. He also knew about the rendez vous with the informer at the train station when the informer got killed. In it up to his neck imo. |

I have to say that at first I thought eight weeks would be a stretch for this, but each episode has been so well-crafted, containing new key pieces of information each time, that it has maintained its momentum effortlessly; there have been no laboured plot devices and the flashback technique is used to great dramatic effect. Another compelling original drama from the beeb, right up there with An Honourable Woman and Happy Valley, not to mention The Fall, which makes its welcome return on BBC2 tomorrow night.

For me its disappointing...more red herrings than in the sportswear department of Debenhams. Its turgidly slow and as far fetched as a Bond film..i wont be tuning in next week for sure.

They should find out the time of that goal, then see if the party are filming a replay...for another red herring.

that's a good point, it looked like the quarter final they were watching was brazil v denmark, which was a 2100 ko time (2200 bst), yet it was still broad daylight outside

I asked Mrs CMAT last week what year the boy went missing.
She said 2000. There was no World Cup in 2000. Either she has the date wrong, or the story line is flawed. I know where I'd put my money. ![]() |

Wouldn't do for us all to enjoy the same things in life eh chaps

I'm definately still watching - then again I was a huge 'Coldfeet' ' fan!..............

Think the child went missing in 2006.
8 episodes is way too many. Getting laboured already. |

It was 2006.
Mrs CMAT needs to concentrate more ! ![]() |

we now have 3 people Missing; Olly, Stotty and Stotty's daughter Molly.
What was interesting was Stotty's comment about his missing daughter; "The official description was, she'd run away". Not sure that is a comment you would make about a girl that age in the painting, perhaps she disappeared when older?? He also said 'we were very happy', a strange comment about a daughter imo. |

How did Nesbitt know that Stott knew the French paedo chap who then moved to England?
|
|
By:
they both used the same identical phrase about guilt.

We are supposed to assume that rebus was doing his own daughter - last week he looked at the easel (which we couldn't see) and said "hello, sweetheart" in what can only be described as a lascivious way. This is probably another red herring. You have to say that this thing has been brilliantly constructed, a slow reveal over the entire series with new information emerging in each episode, and not a single unnecessary or superfluous scene. BAFTA written all over it imo. |
|
By:
Yes, very well structured. Written by two brothers apparently, fans of 'Lost' which apparently also had a 'then and now' parallel dialogue.
|
|
By:
I agree, the introduction of Rene was brilliantly worked as were the revelations about Julien's daughter.
little links like the lunch (soup) which made Rene change her mind and the chicken broth given to her by Julien. |

The monogram on the kids scarf looks like it has been photoshopped.
You would never get a monogram that big on a scarf. 'How big do you want the monogram, Mrs Hughes?' 'Oh, just big enough to show up in the background of a Bastille day photograph' |

Just watching this.
The plot thickens. I'm finding it a bit confusing. Not helped by looking at tomorrows Newbury card, for the placepot comp, at the same time. Going to have to rewind it a bit now. Must concentrate. |
|
By:
Not looking at Newbury any more
![]() Really confused now. Can't say too much or it will spoil it for anyone who has yet to watch it. |

By:
Another great ending.
I guess we know now what Malik meant when he said to Nesbitt and wife "I know what you did". Presumably last nights actions will precipitate the break up of Nesbitt and his Mrs. I will miss Stotty, his part of the story was more compelling than the Romanian gang milarkey. One wonders if he wanted to be punished: the line 'he was beautiful though, wasn't he' was unnecessarily provocative, though perhaps he couldn't help himself. The yacht as a device might have grated in other programmes, here I felt it worked. Just. |
|
By:
Like M_D I too am confused. Was too tired to really be concentrating. I thought he'd killed him on the yacht, but then he was with his wife on a yacht - which was the present day ?

Stotts wife has dementia and is in a nursing home. The present day scenes on the yacht were her delusions.

Biggest mystery to me is how he pulled the attractive blonde artist simply by sitting on a bench and looking forlorn... |

Ok.! Up to speed now. Watched the episode again on iplayer. Must have nodded off previously, as I missed seeing the bit in the Nursing Home ( Blue Rose etc).
Have to keep your wits about you watching this series. ![]() |
