Don't normally like Nesbitt but that was very good.

I would imagine this has been a difficult programme to make for all concerned , given the storyline and inevitable comparisons to the McCann  case.

Will be watching it on Sky+.

I do find I forget the details of the programme (if they are complex) from week to week though.

btw, does Nesbitt put on that Northern Ireland accent again?  He's brilliant at it.

Excellent stuff. Hoping they don't ruin it by dragging it out too much over eight episodes, but so far so good.

Weak episode..too much flitting about between past and present and it was confusing. As i first feared, its going to be dragged out into to many episodes a la Broadchurch.

Ridiculous that they connect the scarf to a house & the basement picture but would not re-open the case Crazy

Coming along nicely.

Some observations for the CCDA;

* Nesbitt's father in law, who seems to be a Judge or lawyer, ('I see it all the time in court') says in Ep 1 "....sometimes its people you know who hold a grudge....You don't think, after what we did...."..seems key.

* The Police Liason Officer suspiciously happened to be 'on holiday in area the time and volunteered'.  Hmmmm.  And of course is now shacked up with Nesbitt's ex wife

*  The mystery phonecall Nesbitt took outside the car at beginning ep 1, is that key to setting the whole course of events in action?

* Ken Stott's appearance as the Scottish developer is interesting.  Was it in 'Law and Order' that the biggest guest star usually done it?  Knows plenty of nooks and crannys in old houses to hide a child and is acquainted with a known sex offender.

* Apparently the woman playing the French police officer who can speak English is a big star in France also, perhaps just practising her English?

* What does the reporter have on the French Cop to blackmail him with?

*  When they are at the garage a mechanic tickles Olly, probably nothing, but in the circumstances!

*  Olly wasn't actually wearing the yellow scarf when he went missing (continuity error?).  The scarf may have been in the bag he was carrying (subsequently found) that but strange for the perp to have removed it and put it on Olly, or brought it with him.

* The geezer who shows up at the nursing home who knows Nesbitt's wife, looks like the same person who was beaten up by Nesbitt in those photos.

Coming up next week:

James Nesbitt orders tapas, asks the geezer if it is on the house, geezer says 'non', old French policeman pays for it.

one scenario i like is what people said couldnt happen in the maccan case,
one of the couple [ from what we,ve seen the wife]no,s exactly whats happened, the only problem with this is,i cant see the actors and the beeb putting this slant out there with people bound to make comparisons with the macaan case
By:

A lot of red herrings.

Nesbitt and father-in-law (now dead) have been up to something.

Ziane the french cop, has been up to something that the asian newshound knew about, and is now 'rotting in jail'.

The UK police liaison officer is now shacked up with Nesbitts ex-wife, and won't let him talk to her on the phone. He's ginger, so a prime CCDA suspect.

Stott has put up a massive reward, but may know that it's not going to get claimed as he paid two 'respectable' people to lie about an alibi for the paedophile.

Perhaps Nesbitt will do a 'Bobby Ewing', wake up and realise it was all a dream. Laugh

I watched the first two parts of Missing, this afternoon.

Excellent writing and acting.

Awful to think this is real for some parents.

Anyone spot Mrs Selfridge?

As dull , dragged out & overrated as Broadchurch , desperate failed attempts at emulating the quality of recent Scandi crime dramas.
