Seems to me that the book is a missed opportunity to illustrate the very arguments Russell Brand is making. Instead of publishing it the traditional way, he could've tried to set up some sort of profit-sharing initiative, so that the proceeds were distributed fairly between everyone involved: from the paper producers, to the binders, to the marketers, to the writer. It's not a perfect way to achieve fairness, but it's a start, and it would reflect the fact that lots of people play important roles in the process of producing a book, not just the writer and the publisher (who usually cream off all the profit).

Had a dig at the casino style financially reckless big banks then a minute later tried to dismiss any financial concerns people might have about their mortgages becoming owned by a foreign bank by being patronising and talking babyish and implying that such concerns were down to racism.

Fair point about deciding which vehicle to sell the book through. Not sure whether that would be his decision or the publishers. Depends what the profits from the book sale are going to be used for. Could be they are to be used for ' good causes'  as RB has stated he's not interested in money anymore. In which case Amazon would be the one to make the highest level of sales.

Facts, i know people on Brand`s wave length that have suggested to me that we should get rid of money and start bartering between ourselves again as a system. Hardly progressive is it? They would be happier and more spiritually in harmony living in goat sheds at the end of allotments after all the land is taken back off the landed gentry and shared out for communal usage amongst the people.

Unfortunately you have to work within the system, raging against the machine with a false sense of purpose and hanging on the words of a dreamer who has the option of a very comfortable existence will lead more people into cardboard boxes.

Brand may be mad but nowhere near as mad as whoever wrote or believes the Green party manifesto.

The Green manifesto ticks many of the boxes of Brand`s awakening Dotch. In fact Brand wants spiritual awakening to take it beyond that manifesto so hard to know Brand can be less mad.

He seems to think the people can pull together in harmony, he will say there is no need for any authority, rise people, create Utopia, i will see you later!! Off back to LA for a bit!

Brand reminds me a bit of the HARLEQUIN figure in the Harlan Ellison short story, " 'Repent, Harlequin!' Said the Ticktockman."

Not surprised, he had arrived at the Newsnight studios direct from a London theatre where he had been interviewed live ( shown simultaneously In cinemas around the uk) for c 2 hrs. Prior to that he had been campaigning with and talking to members of a group about to be evicted from their homes.

I think he is genuinely going through an `awakening` process which millions of the named `truthers` have also gone through. He is still trying to digest what is being revealed to him by his Occupy connections. It`s a rush of blood to head, and it also feeds him for material to voice, he is a voice. The messiah complex runs as deep as anyones.

He is sincere to a point, as long as he is causing a reaction and stick it up the dusty institutions. Fair play, but i wouldn`t expect him to stick around for long. It will be a complicated process.

I think he's very sincere, and passionate about what he's saying. He is famous and therefore has a platform off of which he can put forth his ( mostly others) facts and figures. He recognises that he is just a vehicle through which (hopefully ) the underlying message will be heard, picked up and acted upon in ways that will have an exponential impact.

Economic choices are no longer in the hands of the voters, the mega banks & multi nationals are in control. We vote in governments who then manage us for a period of time until they are voted out and then the next change of brand comes along to manage us. We are managed, we are not represented.

The system has been manufactured for us to believe we have democracy but if we can not be represented then the who notion of democracy is an illusion. Yes the gulf between the rich and those at the bottom is widening, pensioners need their homes insulating, but do individuals like yourself or myself or Brand visit the pensioners in need? Surely as it is not just down to the system where that fails.

Yes the NHS is overrun (Where will exponential growth take us Facts?) do we keep on growing, do we stop the immigration or do we adopt a breeding policy? The room is not getting any bigger, so the countryside will have to go, concrete jungles for progress? not for me.

Brand could do himself a favour by campaigning to the plight of our elderly this winter. Ignite some social compassion, i think it would be a winner.

He is helping. He has suggested they turn off their answering machines to save electricity.

The predicted growth in population is said to reach c75million by 2037. This is driven by increase in net migration, and by changes in birth/ death rates. Interestingly it is calculated that 40 % of births in the UK are unplanned. This increase will mean we have to plan for and change the way we live, in order that the necessary resources are available and that our infrastructure can support such growth. I assume these aspects are being addressed by relevant experts in their field.

I haven't the answer to your questions. Other than change is required, if we are to make better use of the resources we have, which include, power,money and a desire to create a more fairer society, where this is not the huge gap between the ' haves and Have nots ' . Unless steps are taken to redistribute  the wealth in this country, I see an increasing growth in the fabulously rich and the desperately poor, and in the 21st Century in such a country like ours, is shameful.

To your other point, ( and relative to the above) , I agree. Again it is shameful that we allow our elderly to suffer the hardship and indignity of going without adequate food and/or heating, so that thousands will die this winter as a result. Whilst at the same time £billions are spent on promoting the Xmas festivities. Our sense of values and what is important are being lost in the wave of greed and profit for the few at the cost of the many. It has always been so, but it has to change.
