People like big numbers but how is this explained......
.
Facebook has 59 million users - and 2 million new ones join each week.

Mark Zuckerberg founded Facebook in his college dorm room six years ago. Five hundred million people have joined since.

The figures are from Google FB headlines without exploring further.

Another tax avoiding bunch of filth.

How the **** can we allow our elected representatives to let these behemoths pay no tax while they demonise and defenestrate the poor? What a shambolic nation we have become.

How would you change the tax laws to increase the amount FB has to pay and what problems do you forsee in this.

I'm not an economist dotchinite, so any solution I could come up with would be simplistic at best.

I presume from the tone of your question that you have some idea of the consequences of enforcing a stricter tax regime for these companies. Do you think that Facebook would close its British operation, or that Starbucks would close its coffee shops, that Amazon would stop delivering or that Vodafone would just up and leave? These are just a few of the companies that are legally depriving the exchequer of billions while it forces families to the food bank.

Please note, as I said above, that I would welcome enlightenment in these matters rather than an argument on the subject. I would point out however, that the general unfairness of the arrangements are more grist to the mill of disgruntlement felt by the ordinary people of these islands and that sooner or later those people will declare enough.

wikipedia says founded 2004 and 1.32 billion users

i thought 59 million seemed very low

Well it obviously didn't stack up, when it was said "2 million new per week!

To me(but how do you get a proper figure unless an independent body is set up,i'm not up on the law etc)
they pay tax on the revenue produced from what country the hit or order comes(shipping address) from, therefore they pay
tax to the government that the ordinary retailers are losing out on.
prob sounds to easy a solution.
