Listened to this over and over on the radio, whilst drinking copious amounts of Scotch, and painting James's nursery with a wall to wall, and ceiling mural.
This was in the halcyon summer of '76 and a massive hit for Elaine Paige.
Just searching for her best rendition by her and came upon this totally fabulous performance by Nicole Sherzinger.
How did I never hear this before? She is held back by "pop music" imo!

don't worry about the gaff aunty ,Elaine page singing is as good as any ...........her singing" memories "is class although babs Streisand can half knock it out too!
Great story, apart from the fact it was released in the halcyon winter of '76, and was recorded by Julie Covington, not EP!
I was really hoping that link was the monkeys on mopeds again.
so-so imo, great song but a fairly indifferent performance; the best recording was JC imo, although I saw EP in the west end and it was a true show stopper
