Only 5 of the 43 answers werent pointless

3 of the non pointless answers were obvious, one a little harder, and the other one I guess was only picked because one of the 100 must have had a bet on it.

I'd go for Alverton or Little Owl.
Report SlippyBlue October 18, 2014 7:56 PM BST
As the non pointless answer of course.
Report Paddy Hair October 18, 2014 7:58 PM BST
Dessie must be non pointless
Report SlippyBlue October 18, 2014 8:00 PM BST
As would Dawn Run and Best Mate I would have thought Paddy.
Report SlippyBlue October 18, 2014 8:01 PM BST
*pointless* for Alverton and Little Owl !
Report treetop October 18, 2014 8:38 PM BST
Dessie,Kauto Star and Imperial Commander all scored but Cool Ground would have won it.
Report treetop October 18, 2014 8:39 PM BST
Best Mate was pointless slippy, surprised me that one.
Report SlippyBlue October 18, 2014 8:50 PM BST
He only won it three times Shocked
Report MadVlad October 18, 2014 9:33 PM BST
I would have said Imperial Commander Sad
Report MadVlad October 18, 2014 9:33 PM BST
Even though I backed Mr Mulligan with AP @ 14/1 to win it Cry
Report pumphol. October 18, 2014 11:33 PM BST
Nortons Coin 100/1
Cool Ground  50/1
Burrough Hill Lad 20/1 AP

backed all three at those prices, I suspect they were all pointless, now that would have been the perfect question to get when I was on the show Sad
Report Mikael D'Haguenet October 18, 2014 11:39 PM BST
There were only five that weren't pointless, pumps. Arkle, Dessie, Kauto Star, Imperial Commander and Bobs Worth.
Report Mikael D'Haguenet October 18, 2014 11:40 PM BST
Having backed that trio, you obviously didn't need the measly couple of grand you woulda won anyway!
Report pumphol. October 18, 2014 11:45 PM BST
Funnily enough its probably been my luckiest race unlike the Derby & National etc

The Thinker 16/1 in the morning
Cool Dawn 33/1

Were others I backed though I have not had the winner this century Crazy
On a level stake Unless I live to be about 300 it will always be a profitable race Wink
Report SlippyBlue October 18, 2014 11:51 PM BST
My Dad was on Cybrandian at huge prices pumps, that was a horror story for the Blue family when The Thinker done him on the run in.

I could easily be one of the rare Betfairians who would not get a pointless answer here as I know the names of very few horses.  My guesses of Desert Orchid, Arkle and Best Mate would be a win by sheer fluke.
Report pumphol. October 19, 2014 12:03 AM BST
Yes hard to believe 100 people would not name Best Mate Shocked
Report pumphol. October 19, 2014 12:04 AM BST
He must have been gutted Slipps

Just shows what a minority sport horse racing is.
Report tobermory October 19, 2014 2:29 AM BST
Yep

Cheltenham is up there with The Ryder Cup and British Lions tours as the most overhyped sporting events.

Presented by Sky (or C4/Racing Post in this case ) as events that stop the entire nation  ,when in realty only people especially interested in those sports day to day are bothered .
Report Darlo Bantam October 19, 2014 2:47 AM BST
I'd have gone for Long Run first up and not expected it to be pointless.
