I read the article and understand that Buffet still owns more shares than he sold. What's he up to? Is he going to wait for the shares to go lower before he sells the rest of them? - Lol. I don't trust anyone.
He also sold in September, just before the last drop which was obvious, and would be spotted coming by any half decent chart reader let alone a legend like Buffet.
Gin suggests Tesco as buying opportunity, this is not the way I operate but he's got a point.

Don't think its time to buy yet probably get close to a £1 when their potentially disastrous xmas p & l is revealed.Theres probably more accounting cover ups yet to be revealed, not forgetting a small matter of a £2.6b black hole in their pension fund

This new Scan and Pack they've introduced at some Tesco branches seems very ill advised to me.
They have three members of staff employed to supervise it where I go. One to hand out and instruct people how to set it up their cards and use the hand scanner, and another two to help them check out.
Then there is the obvious vulnerability for theft which we all end up paying for. What's to stop anyone from simply not scanning some of their goods and checking out? Who's to know? They could get away with it for ages. If they fall foul of a random check they simply say an item didn't scan or they used the scanner incorrectly or they simply made a mistake? If Tesco make a fuss then no one will use the scanners at all.
I wouldn't be surprised if they drop it. Could this be an example of the type of people who are running Tesco these days.

I sold my Berkshire Hathaway B shares in March. Warren Buffett does sell shares. At times he held only a few: Geico; Washington Post; Coca Cola. My guess is he getting out now as the market might collapse. He'll be waiting with cash to buy back what he sold.
"Quiescence, improvement, confidence, prosperity, excitement, overtrading, convulsion, pressure, stagnation, ending in quiescence." The pressure will come when interest rates rise. Governments can't keep the lid on for ever.

Tesco now says that profits in the first half of the year were overstated by £263m. That is an increase from last month's initial estimate of £250m.
Meanwhile, Tesco's trading performance continues to deteriorate. Like-for-like sales, which strip out new stores, fell 4.6% in the first half of the year and pre-tax profit slumped to £112m, down more than 90% on the same period in the previous year. That profit number includes several one-off items, including an adjustment related to the overstated profit. Underlying profit before tax was £783m, down almost 47% on the previous year, and a little less than analysts were expecting. Tesco shares fell more than 6% in early trading in London.

I my opinion for what it's worth, after reading the price action over the last few weeks I'd say the share price has bottomed. It's unlikely to go much lower now and if it does it will bounce back up. This has got nothing to with the news or anything else of which I've got little interest. I'm going purely on the buying and selling action. It looks a fair bet now, although you might have to wait a bit. It's not the kind of share I buy.

Interesting price action from Tesco the last couple of days on the back of the latest news, (Good news if you're buying the shares.)
It was supported below 168 yesterday again like it was three weeks ago, but the volume was lower this time.(less selling.) Also there was good support on Thursday on increased volume to bring it back up. The most significant item though is the increased volume over the last three weeks after a major move down, but now no further downwards progress. This suggests professional accumulation of the share.

it dit hit 164-5p though which is a fair 5 points lower than a few weeks ago at 171.5p
I was thinking it may crash & 150p would be a great price but is more likely to get bought up before it gets that low , unless there's any more bad news this week

Problem for Tesco is that they are stuck with huge overheads which has brought a lot of businesses down in the past. The public are realising that they dont need a choice of 25 types of every product known to man and that's not going to change now. I drove past my local Tesco, one of the biggest in the country, and the car park was half empty this morning.
