Most on here too young to remember Mr Andrews, Danny Blanchflower
surprised Eamonn by telling him where to stick his Red Book.

A decent amateur boxer, a singer, reached 18 in the charts back in the 50's & presenter of Crackerjack among lots of other stuff, met someone years back that had been a guest on a this is your life show but cannot remember who the star was.

Crackerjack had a quiz called 'Double or Drop' in which
you got goodies for every right answer and a cabbage for a
wrong one, the snag was you had to hold them,
3 cabbages and you were out, you were also out
and lost your prizes if you dropped them. Too cruel for
todays children.
I always wanted a crackerjack pencil.

This takes me back,he lived in the road I was born and brought up in. I used to deliver his morning paper for years. I seem to remember he was quite generous with my Christmas box (no innuendo intended).

I remember a Sea King helicopter winchman being on once. He got a standing ovation at the end from the audience, and rightly so.

I loved crackerjack and always wanted to be on it.
What was Playbox Kenny, I can't remember that? Googled it and it says it was a show from the 80s for 2-5 year olds.

Thanks Do Wah. akabula. Palaybox was on every other Friday, also presented by Eamon. It was more of a thoughtful game show rather than slapstick, and I always looked forward to it.

He hosted a chat show on ITV, The Eamonn Andrews Show.[3] He was famous for coming up with off-the-cuff linkings that did not work – such as: "Speaking of cheese sandwiches, have you come far?"

Throughout the 1950s, he commentated on the major British heavyweight fights on the BBC Light Programme, with inter-round summaries by J. Barrington Dalby!

Yes I remember it well. Decent commentator.
