Talking about whether an Arsenal player should have been sent off: "If it wasn't a red card it was an orange". Cracking.

The day anyone connected with football says anything brilliant I'll bare my hairy arse in the window of the deli across the road until either Saskia or Anastasia calls the cops to take me away.

For example..

Paul Merson : "The belief the boss had in us was unbelievable."

I rest my case.

Prepare to bare all then Slippy.

When John Lambie was managing Partick Thistle two players had a head collision jumping for the ball.
The physio after treating the Thistle player at the side of the pitch told Lambie, who had used all his subs, that he couldn't play on.

Lambie - "I've no more subs he'll need to stay on"
Physio - "He's got concussion and doesn't even know his own name"
Lambie - "Good, tell him he's Pele and get him back on"

Knowing Lambie there would be a good few swear words missing from that story Laugh

Slippy

There's nothing in that Merson quote that is nonsensical.

I'm sure slippy can defend himself but the bar was set at brilliant. I know the average manager or indeed player can barely string a sentence together but the best you can say about those are cliched and quite funny. Brilliant they weren't.

The closest to brilliant I can think off the top of my head was Cantona's comment about seagull's following a trawler. Hardly brilliant but for a footballer reasonably philosophical and quite true.

As for Mourinho he veers between bellend and dribbly bellend. Anybody taken in by him is a halfwit. Footballer's are generally halfwits so he does have a knack of getting them to play for him. If he can get them off the bus for long enough.

An artist in my eyes, is someone who can lighten up a dark room. I have never and will never find difference between the pass from Pele to Carlos Alberto in the final of the World Cup in 1970 and the poetry of the young Rimbaud. There is in each of these human manifestations an expression of beauty which touches us and gives us a feeling of eternity ERIC CANTONA

"If a Frenchman goes on about seagulls, trawlers and sardines, he’s called a philosopher. I’d just be called a short Scottish bum talking crap."
Gordon Strachan in response to Cantona's famous "seagulls" quote following the 1995 Crystal Palace-Simmons incident.

And my favourite Strachan quote...

Reporter: "Gordon, can we have a quick word please?"
Strachan: "Velocity" [walks off]

Wasn't Beckham referring to his Jewish heritage when he made this comment?

Not football but a contestant on 'Millionaire' opts to Phone A Friend.

He reads the question and four possible answers and the friend says, "I think it's B"

"How sure are you?"

"About 25 per cent."
