Then I divorced her.

I bought a bike at the beginning of August. I was 12 St 10. I glide to the station every day and back home again. Only 2 miles but quite steep uphill on the way back. I normally do 20 to 30 miles on a Saturday or Sunday depending on if or when I'm going out for a drink. I'm now 12 St 1.

It's good fun as well. I live near the country so I've been out to some quite nice places that I wouldn't have seen otherwise.

However, I'm not one of these cycling lunatics who wear lycra and I don't ride in traffic.

I want to ride 100 miles in a day before Christmas.  I don't really care how fast I do it though.

Porridge and raw fruit most mornings followed by brisk 2 mile walk. Been doing it for more than 2 years now. Was 13st 7lb, am now 11st 5lb.

I got a bike when I was 30, just to beat the boredom and traffic of driving 7 miles along the A1.
I weighed about 12-7 then.
Mind you that was 33 years ago.
I weigh 17-1 now, fack the bike.
Report Foinavon September 26, 2014 1:32 PM BST
CMAT Laugh fack the bike.

Creatine is definitely worth a look as a supplement to strength training.

It's not a substitute for training but you recover quicker and workout with more intensity and your strength definitely increases providing your exercise regime is basically sound and well structured.

Without going into specifics, I generally do 3 sets of 6-8 reps, last set aiming for muscular failure at around the 4th rep, with lower weights for the final 3-4 reps of that set.

Creatine 4 x spoonfulls a day for week one then 8 weeks of 1 spoonful a day and then 1 week off it all together.

Now bench pressing well above bodyweight and squatting about 2 x bodyweight.

Just getting back into my running after a foot injury (stress fracture) and have struggled after several months off. Did manage a 22:35 5km parkrun on the weekend, which, despite being a good bit off my best was my fastest since February. Hopefully going in the right direction, which is important for an old bloke like me.

Last week I was out for a leisurely bike ride when all of a sudden I found myself in what looked like a bike race with loads of spectators. Almost like the tour de france.  I found out later it was some sort of hillclimb and David Millar was competing.  Probably the pinnacle of my sporting career.  I would have beaten him if I'd taken some EPO tablets.
