most dangerous decade you have lived in??

WW3 coming down the line.

If you were a young white female in some of our more multicultural areas the last decade would appear to have been a bit fraught.
With yer returning isis feckers etc,tc this next decade is going to be interesting.

If you're talking about common or garden punch-ups, there were far more of those in the fifties, sixties and seventies than the later decades.

As to which decade is or was genuinely the most dangerous, it's probably this one.

i'd say these are very safe days

safe cars with air bags ,safe opening caps of toxic materials ,safety features on tools,ladders ,drills etc ,cycle helmets,safety railings on roads ,fewer toxins in foods, passive smoking,speed cameras,fewer drunk drivers,safer work environments etc etc etc

Look at how many murders were committed before hanging was abolised.

Then seen how many are committed per year now.

The 80's.

For many people, it'll depend on your age. I grew up in the 70s and saw a lot of street violence and domestic violence during that period. As I got older I learned which areas to avoid, and once I started earning I was able to move out of the sh1thole. That's on a personal level. On a global level, the early 80s were quite scary while Regan's finger was on the button !

The Cuban Missile Crisis was 20 years before that.
If JFK hadn't got his word in, all hell may have broken loose.

agreed 100% ,but you have more chance being run over on the street by a jetliner than getting caught up in a murder  - i thought we were talking about general day to day safety ?

Not many jetliners down our our street.

How you feel about general day to day safety must relate to crime and where you live.

The chances of an old lady being mugged while walking to the village shop here are miniscule.

The chances of being burgled here are miniscule. There was one burglary in 2005, the year before we moved here. Nobody knows of one before that.

We have young kids and teenagers in this village, but there have been no drive-by shootings, stabbings or killings here...ever.

Compare that with where I used to live, completely different story.

Day to day: 1970s -- football violence; also seemed to be a lot more punch-ups at closing time on Fridays, and not just among the young.

1980s -- muggers

2000s -- yoof gangs

now -- seems safer somehow -- lots of youngish people roaming around between nightclubs and minicab offices but no trouble; more car-crashes tbh.

In the very early 80s as a 13 yr old kid, I was allowed to travel 2 hours on my own to football from the Sussex to London. Then 2 hours home again.

Today we live in very paranoid times. 24 hour news media spreads fear of crime and so parents are very scared to let their kids play outside, walk to school or travel any kind of distance alone or with their friends.

none of the above compares to the 70s in belfast.....there was a gun battle outside my school between the ira and british army ffs..

my dad was in a pub when a car bomb went off outside it.....fúcking crazy

'90s for me, I could easily have caught AIDS if anyone would have had sex with me.

If this decade doesn't get me, the next one probably will. So for me it's this one.

Seriously, the 60s were the most dangerous as we were on the brink of nuclear war. More luck than judgement that we weren't annihilated.

Globally the 60s for the reason Foinavon gives but in this country it's now.
Drugs and immigration have wreaked havoc on the UK with the violence getting worse with the passing of each year.

Although we were a miscommunication away from a nuclear war in the 80's!!

Sort of officially (globally) the Doomsday Clock suggests 1953 was the most dangerous year, when it was at 2 mins to midnight. It was at 3 mins to midnight in the 80s for a few years and now it is 5 mins to midnight and has been for most of the last 7 years. In the 1990s it got as far away as 17 mins to minute and was similar for most of that decade.

I remember playing Missile Command in a pub in the mid 80s when the game's inevitable outcome was a very real possibility for us, all those stockpiles of long and medium range missiles and two nutty regimes with their fingers on the buttons.

my 3rd decade no doubt..................thought i was invincible, sucked and swallowed any drug i got my hands on, drove like a f1 racer, did the sweaty bump with any donut i could and never took a backward step in aggressive situations.
