A woman has been beheaded in a back garden with a weapon believed to be a machete.

The victim was found at an address in Edmonton, north London, just after 1pm today. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a 'madman with a machete' in the area.

Scotland Yard gave few details but said that a man has been arrested.



The force said: 'Police were called to an address in Nightingale Road at 13.07pm today to reports of a stabbing incident.

Best not talk about it in case he's an asian, we mustn't upset the luvvies.

In a statement, the Met Police said: "On arrival officers discovered a female collapsed in a garden area."

A man has been detained and is in custody. Detectives said there is no suggestion that the killing had any terrorist motive.

Not sure collapsed is the correct word.

Why would the police say there was no terrorist motive?

A Taser was used during the arrest of the man and a firearms officer is believed to have suffered a broken wrist.

Det Ch Insp John Sandlin said: "This is was a highly visible attack in broad daylight on a residential street.

"I can understand why this may cause people concern, however we are confident that we are not looking for anyone else at this stage.

"Whilst it is too early to speculate on what the motive behind this attack was I am confident, based on the information currently available to me, that it is not terrorist related.

"Specially trained family liaison officers will be deployed to support the family."

He added officers and specialist detectives would be on the scene for many hours to come.

We may get to the point and may even be past the point where it is wrong to assume that
most people are sane. There is also the assumption that everyone is human., but evolution
may not work like that. If we take someone like Shakespeare who lived 400 years ago not
only did he unddrstand better what it meant to be human he also was more human than
possibly anyone alive today.

"The man is in hospital being treated for injuries suffered when he was arrested, police said"
