I've got Asperger's, or rather I display many of the traits associated with the syndrome.  I don't think of it as suffering any sort of illness at all.

To receive any sort of preferential treatment (as mentioned in an earlier post) on the grounds of having Asperger's Syndrome would be unfair in my view.

I need a specialist to help me run my life, or in other terms "a girlfriend" ... once I split with my ex I didn't know what to do, still don't and that was 6 years ago. I just want help in understanding social things, trying to have a conversatin with people when I am out is impossible unless they do all the talking, I end up lost in a conversation. But see when it's on a computer it's so much easier.

I have a big problem with collecting things, sometimes it gets out of control. I find it hard to maintain relationships, there has only ever been 1 person who was able to do it but then that ended. Sunlight, can't stand it. Noises, drive me insane, I hear every noise you can hear and sometimes I just want to smash my head of a wall until I can't hear anyone. I usually do the getting out of there thing.

Driving is proving hard, I fail to understand why people don't indicate, or stay in correct lanes. Drive perfect, but people don't ...

I think "treatment" is the wrong word to use, "help" in understanding is what is needed ... thats what I need

Good luck to you mate - although I can't really relate to some of what you've posted, some stuff does strike a chord and as I've been 'accused' of having certain traits many times in the past, it's not something that concerns me too much as MOST of the regular symptoms/characteristics (that I've checked up online) are totally alien to me.

I find it easy enough to get on with people (even the difficult ones) and I've got plenty of friends, but ultimately, they think I have a weird ('unconventional' is the word I prefer to use) outlook on life, which if truth be told, I suppose I do Crazy

I don't question myself (I see their lives as humdrum) as I think I'M the normal one, and so if it's of any relevance in diagnosing my 'condition' I'm 49 and I've spent about half my adult life (16 years) with women and half without - the latter is far more preferable to me as I can just about look after myself...albeit ineptly Grin

I am going to have severe health problem if I don't get help ... I stress myself out about things that "normal" people don't worry about.

Last week I got it into my head that I wanted a certain pair of Nike trainers, days upon days searching for these trainers, nothing, so then I started firing e-mails to Nike, they finally got back to me, but for those days my head was just Nike Nike Nike Nike Nike ... nothing else mattered. My diet is abysmal, my exercise is the same ... thing is, if I were to concentrate on diet and fitness I would hardly ever work, then that would become an issue.

Boiling point is going to come, things are just going to explode in my head. Only thing I seem to cope with is betting, I can do that and other things inbwtween, perfect. But it's going to take me another few years to possibly live off it again. Probably the best 2 years of my life was in 2005/06 when I was betting for a living ...

Its good to find out. When you find out in your thirties (or whenever) it explains everything in your life. Why you felt you never fitted in anywhere. Why it was hard to think of things to say and get along with people. Why you hate parties of people talking 'irrelevant' things. Why you would say the wrong thing and have to learn from experience the 'right' thing to say etc.

Once you know you have it you can adapt even more to fit in with the social 'norms'.

It's a bit more complex than that

Personally, I think I am the normal one, but it's other people who make me feel like I am not the normal one ... the only real problem I have in my life is routine, once I am out of routine my whole life falls apart

Aspergers is a behavioural disorder. It is not a psychological disorder.

My gf was told she has aspergers a few years ago.  Like you say, it explained a few things, but doesn't change anything.

The unsympathetic folk on this thread might consider reading The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-time.
