I haven't read the full details of what has happened with this young boy, Facts.

So can't comment, but yes I'm surprised no thread on it now you've come to mention it.

I find it unbelievable that the boys parents have been arrested (and handcuffed). What crime have they committed ?the whole episode has been incredibly badly handled by the hospital, police and the media. Talk about a circus !

Taken from comments in paper:

One sick child is taken to Spain because his parents wanted the best care for him and the Police get the parents arrested.

1400 children in Rotherham are abused over a 16 year period and the Police arrested nobody.

Contrast and compare.

Arrested, held in custody, and being extradited back here.

On what charge?

Their son is no worse off, not missing and not dead.

Yet the British police didn't charge the McCanns with anything.

Eventually EU arrest warrants will be used to catch dangerous criminals fleeing from justice when they've finished rounding up parents

No idea from a legal standpoint where the parents stand. But if they can sue, i hope they do for plenty and it's put to good use..

They (the british government) should release parents and pay for the photon therapy whether it helps or not the - the NHS alternative is permanent brain damage and blinndness so not an option. Cnt think of any better way to spend £100,000 of the countries money - if it works it will be a wonderful feeling that we all helped.

The parents have been arrested for "neglect"

from BBC Hampshire Constabulary obtained a European arrest warrant on the grounds the Kings neglected their son, who was receiving specialist care for his condition when he was taken from the UK.

Surely it is the parents right to seek whatever treatment they choose (assuming they can afford it)

It's bad enough that the child is so very ill, feel for the parents

Are any of the parents qualified doctors? Do you know a large percentage of people
believe that by praying a serious illness can be cured. Were these parents religious?
By:

When: 01 Sep 14 17:57
yes they were JW's. Don't know the full story but the hospital staff probably already had in place plans to make the child a ward of the court for the duration of the treatment if the parents messed about with consent procedures..

More information / background. Nothing to do with JW or ' praying'  !! to invoke a 'cure'

The parents have been arrested for "neglect"

Which is a load of bollocks.

They went to Spain as I understood it, because they can get the treatment they want over there, but not here in the UK.

In what world is trying to do better for your child classed as 'neglect'?

The McCanns child went missing while they were out on the piss, how have they not been charged?

It seems very strange that the news the other day said they had done nothing illegal, but now they are sitting in a cell somewhere, when they are no risk to anyone.

I thought people like christian scientists regularly refused their kids treatment?

For children up to the age of 18, even those who are ‘Gillick competent’, it would be
normal practice for doctors to request transfusions in life-threatening situations and
give them against parental wishes. Where time permits it would be normal to involve
the Court.

Having listened to the  father of the child in the video i would need to hear some info from the medical experts to back up or rubish what he is saying ,although he has stated his position very well and made his case clearly ,something the MSM here failed to do.
Internet is a very powerful tool .
Hope they can raise the funds and wont be surprised if that's exactly what happens here and they can get whats best for their son .Hope it all ends up well .Pretty sad story tbh ,and some bad use of the media by the state imo .Huge pressure being brought on the family.

The mother of one of the parents said on Radio 4 that the couple own a flat in Spain.
They had gone there to sign the papers to complete the process of selling the flat in order to raise £90,000 pounds for the treatment that they thought their son required.
But having been arrested they couldn't sign the papers for the sale so it hasn't gone through.

they were in dispute with the hospital over the child's treatment
Other children have been helped by an alternative treatment.
In the media it was said that they were friends/quakers(implying that the non-belief in blood trans are refused)  so - implied religious grounds and that they kidnapped the child.  Well done the news bods!!

There is an alternative treatment that a british woman had said was  used and has been on tv, with said recovered child.  This is the treatment the parents are seeking.

The parents  were told by the hospital that this treatment doesn't work. !! Doctors from the USA have been on tv as has czech(?) hospital doctor who both said it does.

how badly handled has this been.  What would you do for your sons or daughters?
They have been arrested for a trumped up charge.
Shame we didn't have this immediate action from the police on other matters in northern cities.!!??

it's this european arrest warrant nonsense again where you can be locked up in another country without the country seeking extradition having to provide any evidence that a crime has been committed

the spanish are just following procedure. it's the idiot plods from hampshire in conjunction with the hospital who are to blame here
By:

When: 01 Sep 14 19:39
Hampshire police are digging a rather large hole over this, if these parents are neglectful then so are 99.9% of us, amazing how some hospitals want to turn machines off for very very ill patients but when parents go in search of the best possible care for their child they basically get  labelled & treated as though they had committed some horrible & abhorrent crime.
By:

When: 01 Sep 14 19:48
based on what I've read, seen and heard in the media, I feel sorry for the parents and, most of all, the little boy who is blameless in all this.

For some reason though, can't help thinking there is more to this than meets the eye and we're only getting one side of the story...
