bito have you actually been to Whitechapel recently? It's an aquired taste to say the least.
Dulwich Village is nice but I always wanted to live in Richmond Hill overlooking the park.

erm. only been to a few. camden. but thats if you dont get scared by freaks and weirdos.

the worst ive been to is the busy streets just down the road from wembley stadium/arena where the train station is. no idea what area thats called. i could guess its called wembley, but probably wrong. really hate being around there at night the few times ive stayed at nearby hotels. its not super bad, there are much worse areas here in sheffield so im sure there are a load worse in london. but its the worst bit of london ive ever been to.

Londoners don't go to places like Camden, Soho or Covent Garden for that matter. That's for the tourists. Wimbledon Village is a good spot.

some fantastic places in London - if you've got some very serious money.

However, a lot of places are now just ghettos, that's why a lot of Londoners have  decided to cash out and move away

Always ok for a day out in Leicester Sq/Chinatown/Covent Garden or to see a West End show etc. But would hate to live there and hated working in London.

I was born in London and lived there for 40 years.By the time I moved out I was sick of the place but having hardly been back in 15 years I'm planning a two week tourist trip...west end hotel, theatre, hopefully a good band or two,a trip to the Imperial war Museum a bit of art culture, a wander though Kensington Gardens,some good food. After so long in the sticks I'm really looking forward to it.

went there once and it didnt seem too bad superficially although he hated it.
had the impression there was a bit of a racial mix around there

Why are people obsessed with East London?  I worked there 33 years ago and you'd had to pay me to live there even then.  East London was always a place to avoid.

right about soho and covent garden, wrong about camden, people from all over london sought out camden for it's clubs, pubs, bars and the markets and unique shops, a massive tourist hub though true, I heard it's second only to buckingham palace in terms of tourist attractions in the whole of the UK.

I thought that too about Camden when slippy said it. Not a mecca for middle aged placepotters but definitely a scene for Londoners of a certain age and persuasion.

it may surprise some...but the city midweek is good for pubs and grub...old bill dont put up with beggars .also very few ethnics or trouble ... i love it , like going back 40 years

For me bouncers on every door in Soho is not my idea of a good night out. As regards to places like Camden, been there done that. I'll leave that to the youngsters now. Plus it's hard work to get back to South East London from there and I just can't be bothered with the aggro to be honest. I can have a good night out South of the river with no hassles. Like Oz said, which was very fair comment, it's not  somewhere I'd care to go to.

The traffic around Blackheath is monstrous though K of D, I had a place there years ago and had to drive to work. It just done my head in. It's a great place though for sure and very civilised.
