I am speaking at a wedding where the bride has lost her father so I have been asked to say a few words.

I'm certainly not a public speaker so any words of wisdom for you pro's out there?

Cheers

Speak loudly -- pick someone on a table at the back, and speak to them. If they give you a microphone, FFS use it.

Keep it short. No-one wants to listen to you anyway. Leave the jokes and pisstaking to the best man: concentrate on what a marvellous human being the bride is, was and always has been; the groom is a nice chap; and so on.

And did I mention make sure everyone can hear you? The most common mistake is to talk to the top table directly.

If it's possible arrange to give the speech via video-link.
