People who give way to you when they have right of way.
Sometimes putting you into an impossible situation where, if there was a collision, you are at fault.

It seems to happen to me almost every day where I am turning from a narrow side road in the vllage with "give way into the main road.
I cant take an acute left turn as I will kerb my back wheel.

Even disregarding that I am going to be going onto the wrong side of the road, where these idiots have stopped to let me out,
when they should have just made their right turn so I can turn without obstruction.

Just now it was a young driver but he was right in the line I needed to take, and no other traffic to impede his turn.

Then they look surprised when I have to give them animated gestures (the highway code doesn't provide for this) to just get out of the way!

One that has recently begun to irritate me is unnecessary parallel parking. It's very impressive that you can stop half a car length in front and reverse into the space, but not when I'm stuck behind you and there is enough room for two buses to park -- just drive in forwards, FFS, so we can get past.

AP, If the driver flashes you to go (and gives you time) without any inconvenience to each other that's a good forward thinking decent driver. IE, neither of you stopping for the other. Says i the ex pro courier driver.

People who selfishly indicate 5 yards from turning are far worse.

Ramruna, parking angst. An old fave of mine when someone parked their car in the "loading only" bay (FFS was my first thought!) when i needed to do my drop/collection was to double park my 7.5 tonner with hazard lights on. Most times they'd be waiting for me to move before they could get out. Devil

They're "loading only bays" for a reason dick heads!

And the people who put their disabled badge in the window like it's ok to park there?
Try using double yellow lines instead!

About 20 years ago, driving Mrs CMATs car along Romford Road towards Forest Gate on a Saturday afternoon, which is two lanes either way, but unusable as two lanes because of parked cars, delivery lorries and bus lanes, and it's a very busy road.

There is no right turn at the next set of lights at Manor Park Broadway, so I stopped to turn right the road before the lights, then I take the first left and the first right, and come out on the the road I want.

A bus driver stopped and waved me to go. As I passed the front of the bus a nutter came up the inside lane, which was zig zags for a zebra crossing, and smashed into the side of the car. The bonnet came off and went over the railings, narrowly missing a pedestrian.

Mrs CMATs hairstyle saved her from a face full of broken glass, her mum was in the back and got thrown from one side of the car to the other, hitting her head on the window as she wasn't wearing a seat belt.

The bus driver said he would be a witness.

Mrs CMATs car was written off.

What was especially galling was the fact I has spent the entire morning servicing it as were off to Cumbria the next day.

I told the driver not to move his car until the police arrived, as insurance tells you not to, if there are injuries.

A shop on the corner took in the mother-in-law until an ambulance arrived, and let her sit down.

While I was talking to a witness on the other side of the road, the nutter had two people help him move his car, and swore blind the skid marks weren't his, the cnunt.

The police took statements, etc, and when the police cars had gone, I went after the driver, who was in a different ambulance. I stood at the back doors and told him he was lucky that I hadn't punched him already. He got lippy, so I stepped up inside the ambulance to hit him, but there was a copper sitting out of sight to my left, who told me 'Get off, or get nicked.'

When it came to the crunch, the driver obviously lied about his speed, the fact that he was on zig zag lines, and partly in a bus lane.

There was no CCTV at the time

But the bus driver refused to be a witness against the youth for some reason. And the witness I speaking to who 'saw it all from the cafe window' told the police the youth was doing 70 mph, the daft bastard, so that was discounted straight away.

After loads of phone calls it turned out that the youths dad was a copper from Bromley-By-Bow. How he intimidated the bus driver I have no idea, but Mrs CMAT got paid out anyway.

About 9 months later, in the dead of night, a stolen lorry went down their road and wrote his and his dads cars off. The driver was never traced.

POINTLESS TRIVIA TIME as this was in Newham.
These days there are more CCTV cameras in Newham than the whole of Liverpool and Manchester combined.

"AP, If the driver flashes you to go"...

The Highway Code states that the only interpretation of "flashing" is caution I am here.

To be fair, they didn't have the Chit Chat Detective Agency back in those days.

Indeed. When I was learning, my instructor told me to ignore flashing headlights if it was to let me go. He also warned me to avoid flashers.

The Chit Chat Defective Detective Agency would never have suspected me.I had a normal hairstyle. I didn't live alone, but I wasn't a landlord.

Motorway matrix signs, only they cant tell you there's congestion on a road 120 miles away, when the motorway is closed 600 yards in front of you. Also when they scream 'PEDESTRIANS IN ROAD' at you...I for one have never had to swerve avoiding random jaywalkers on the M40!

Matrix signs are like the boy who cried wolf.

Caution queue.....50 Lane closure 40....Debris on Carriageway..... END!!!!

Heading homme, eastbound on M62. Late and tired and daughter somewhere behind me.

Matrix signs A1 closed at A64 which is where she wants to go. So she  did a detour via mine and added maybe 15 miles to her journey.

Next day I discovered that it was the southbound slip road that was closed. What idiots do they have programming these signs?

Perhaps it might be better if they didn't warn you of debris on the carriageway? Would you be happy then?
Those matrix signs are there to help you to get to your destination safely. They are not activated for fun!

When it says 'END' it generally means that the debris has now been removed. Thanks to intelligent driving by all the other drivers, this was accomplished safely. Fortunately, Aunty Post came along later. LaughLaugh

Was  on motorway M8,to glasgow, rush hour, past junction 2a, Livingston ,real bad tailbacks,I was at the end, traffic stood still, after the long blind curve,I knew cars who didn't know this section driving at speed wouldn't have time to stop.and right enough, looking in wing mirror a car travelling at speed,I shoved my emergency lights on,could hear his car braking, then into back of me.

He came off worse, both got out in shock, both standing in fast lane,we then walked to central reservation, small talk with guy, can't remember what was said, police were great ,there in 15 mins(longest of my life)emergency services were great, and will always remember how professional they were.

Thanks naydam, as always.

The complaint was about signage for things that never were!

e.g. Telling people that a road was closed when it never was! Can you imagine the time and cost to individuals and, more so,
transport companies for diverting without reason?

Leaving information up when it's historical. Surely the police should tell them to update their warnings!

"walked to central reservation, small talk with guy, can't remember what was said",

Hell of a walk from "the fast lane" (which doesn't exist)to the central reservation, to talk about what happened on "Coronation Street"
and what a nice day it's turned out to be!
