What happened to British reserve?

People who don't know you, or your station in life, write to you as "Hello Jeff" or "Hi Jeff"

Pretty much everyone, including the vicar, says "Hi" and everyone going "Hi Five" including the police motor cyclists at "Le Tour de Yorkshire"
much to the not impressed French counterparts.

Then the kissing thing where it was just for little Jimmy and close relatives and friends.

Now they are going "Mwah....Mwah" and more recently "Mwah....Mwah....Mwah" to complete strangers on first meeting!
