it would be easier for me to work out the statement than the link,but I believe it was on the irish main news last night.
I Googled it and found the only link to Betfair by a chap named brassneck!
I'm not disputing what you say by the way I'd just like a link. For teaching purposes.
It's not too difficult to work out what they mean: "less likely not" means "more likely". Which gives: "people who do not take aspirin are more likely to get cancer than people who do take aspirin on a daily basis"

Ah, but does 'less likely not to get cancer' have exactly the same meaning as 'more likely to get cancer?

Asprin's a drug and on some level it will be doing some harm. It may help prevent heart disease and possibly even cancer but it will increase the risk of other illnesses - Alzheimer's , IBS, strokes etc etc. Theres no free ride on any drug and those doing the research on the drugs are often funded by the pharmaceutical companies.
Well if you accept that "less likely not" means exactly "more likely" (which logically it does) then they mean the same.

Perhaps I should have been more assertive and said "I'm missing a subtle difference not".
I think it is fair to say that I am not less likely to be more uninformed had I not opened this thread than otherwise. 
There's a job awaiting you as a press releaser at the World Health Organisation.
it is a quadruple negative,it makes complete sense(I think),thinly vailed it means aspirin is good at stopping cancer,but they went on to say the side effects out weigh the benefits of taking it.(I think that is what it means,and they announced it like this to stop a run on the sale of Aspirin )
its like saying IF YOU DO NOT TALK TO THE PEOPLE ABOUT ANYTHING ,THE PEOPLE WILL NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT.
I can't draw that conclusion.
It says people who take aspirin daily are less likely to get cancer than people who don't. It doesn't say that aspirin is good at stopping cancer. Drinking three bottles of red wine a day might be good at stopping cancer then again it might not be.

The wife had been suffering for the last ten years or so. I've spent a lot of time, energy and most of my money on looking after her.
At times I've had to get blind drunk to get through things. It's a bit of a relief that she's gone but I so miss her.

im sorry to hear about your wife Charlie,you will just have to put one foot on front of the other until time moves on ,and time will help you to come to terms with your sad loss.
