Agreed Kenny but you get the feeling that the Old Bill have been playing catch up ever since their man (and I mean that) JS died..

They knew all about JS as did most people in the 'Establishment'..I guess JS was blackmailing a lot of people. So it was only after he died that things started to move.

Well if he IS guilty Mr B I'm sure he would never be caught off guard as he'd have his replies well rehearsed. Anyway, he's abroad a lot of the year so it's not a case of him just fking off.

Amazed that the Beeb is running this story.

Great credit to them. About time etc but still, it's a relief that they retain some integrity.

Think it all smells a bit,for years ickes been going on about ''kitty'' and all of a sudden poice get involved when we know they've been covering these lots arses and mps for years.Just looks a sham to me,no chance Richards would have anything lying around after the last couple of years, this just looks like a stunt to finally put ''kitty'' in the clear. On the other hand it maybe covering these mps arses by using him as scapegoat, lets hope the full truth finally comes out about these paedos...

he said he,s been aware of the allegations for months but kept quiet so as not to pour oil on a burning fire,in the present climate only a loon would think this would stay burried so if innocent why didnt he front up and defend himself, looks a lot worse been dragged kicking and screaming

The media are worrying about why his name has been released...

Good grief... Of course his name has been deliberately leaked to encourage others to come forward (if there are any). Don't have to be Poirot to figure that one out.

This high profile stunt in Berkshire is purely to bring possible victims out.

If they don't come forward, Cliff'll be fine, if not he's doing porridge.

Absolute f*cking joke.
Police spend 5 hours searching his house where they turned up unannounced, well unannounced to everybody except the press.
30 years after the so called crime. What spurred him to complain now, does he smell money maybees?
As regards Cliff being abroad he spends a fair part of the year, every year, in Barbados or somewhere like that.

So Cliff didn't know police were about to search his apartment, but media seemed to know and were soon outside, and BBC even had a chopper hovering over his house when the rozzers arrived.

Same thing happened with Jim Davidson.

He had a call from the press asking him why the police were about to arrest him Laugh

I didn't know this but apparently it used to be common practice for police to let reporters know they were about to raid a celebrity's house or make a high-profile arrest.

It was part of the trade of information and favours between cops and hacks that has so recently fallen into disrepute.

Sir Cliff is hallowed ground ,don't believe the story .  Should have come clean about him being an rs bandit years ago but that doesn't make him a criminal.  If others come forward and it becomes obvious hes a monster it will be a sad day .

Another one added to the Yewtree list?

I still do not approve of this, we have people being convicted by testimony from people who stand to makes money
and need not present any proof.

On the plus side, we appear to have found a miracle cureShocked for those living with memories of sex abuse...we just pay them money
I suppose for that we should be grateful

I don't and will never believe this...the motive is pure greed
I will now be called a paedo and paedop apologist for my troublesSad

Some of those making false allegations are attention seekers. If its proven they are making it up they should face a prison sentenance and hefty fine. They shouldn't be allowed to make allegations thinking they've  got nothing to lose.

good idea ricky

The problem is, some of these allegations are from so long ago, it is impossible to prove anything either way
It is why I argue for a time limit for most of these claims

Some I think could proceed, where children are involved, and it has been systematic(over a long period)
