Pete Duel was replaced by Roger Davis in Tuesday's episode. I did not recall the reason why and now have read that the original actor(Pete Duel) was shot in 1971.

loved it as a kid, watched a few reruns when the commonwealth games were on the same channel
pete duel killed himself, i've no recollection of seeing the replacement but i do know it was the man that did voice overs in the first series because i read about it

Yes Stow..Misses twizzle and myself have been enjoying the series since it was flagged up on the forum but after Tuesdays episode without Pete Duel we wont be watching anymore.Just not the same without the original Hannibal Hayes. It did come as quite a shock when the character was changed without any explanation what so ever.
I have been reading up on the circumstances involving Pete's death and it appears he took his own life after getting drunk on dec 31st 1971.He hated what he was doing and on that day he had been given the news that a third series had been commissioned. He was tied into a lengthy contract with ABC so he had no choice but to continue.I also read that Pete and his co- star Ben Murphy did not get along which again surprised me .Pete Duel committed suicide before the 18th episode.Very sad..such a tragic waste.

Loved this as a kid, put it on series link. Watched the first 2 then deleted the lot... They say never go back, so true..
