I recorded about 3 hours of Live Aid including the whole Queen set from Radio 1 on to two 90 minute blank cassettes at the time. I still have them now.

7-00- 7-40 , one of the greatest moments in the  history of live music and Freddie was on his own.

Was staying in a mates flat over looking the sea on one of the western islands that night.
Was a magic night all round.
Kenny on another subject I read in yesterdays Sunday Post that over 600,000 animals were tested on last year in Scotland alone.
I was shocked to read that. Where would I find a breakdown of that?

I asked MRs CMAT to record the whole concert as I was at work.

She got it all except Quo Sad who opened it, and are one of my favourite groups.

Iirc, Freddie had a stinking cold that day, so it was an outstanding performance.

I think I remember reading somewhere, or hearing it, many years ago, that Status Quo were originally scheduled to go on after Queen. But it was changed a couple of days before. After the Queen gig, the Status Quo boys said to one another 'thank f*ck we went first cos' there was no following that!'

Another tale I heard of that day was that another band were watching Queen and after the almost complete audience participation with Radio Ga Ga, one band member said to the others 'christ, wish we had a song like that'. Might have been Quo again but not sure.

A wonderful, wonderful performance from Queen and Mercury that blasted the day back into orbit after it had just begun to flag.
