Telephone fundraising has helped charities raise huge sums, with an estimated £2billion amassed for good causes. However, this comes at a cost, as some of Britain's biggest charities are paying private companies to raise money on their behalf. Seyi Rhodes examines the increasing number of complaints being made about this method of collecting donations, and going inside call centres, undercover reporters find a sales-driven culture where some workers are pressured daily to meet targets

I give to charity every week, twice.  Tuesday and Saturday.
And if it's a big rollover I sometimes dig a little deeper into my pocket.
It makes me feel I'm doing my bit for the less fortunate brass bands and butterfly spotters

When I check 141 - after many of these, often 'line goes dead' nuisance calls - The number often begins '00' -

- That would indicate the calls emanate from abroad - as would the (when they do speak) often instances of an Indian/Pakistani type accent.

They must do it through some kind of Skype system, therefore - although I am NOT on Skype - to keep their call overheads down.

Apparently ...

I am currently the owner of many Shares that they wish to buy for multiples of the shares last pricing .... before the Companies ALL went 'Bust' - and ceased to exist - several years ago.

My Computer is continually infected with Viruses - according to the barely able to speak in English - Indian gentleman, or lady, "from Microsoft/Windows."

That, despite my doing daily 'house-keeping' and keeping my computer as clean as a whistle... that would make it a shining example of how to look after your Microsoft/Windows operating system.

I must be the most archetypical consumer in the country - despite being a bachelor who does no shop ostentatiously, or buy anything that I do NOT need - given the number of, "Don't worry, I am not trying to sell you something - this is only a Survey," calls that I am continually targeted with.

Makes a change from the Nigerian - "you have been left £1 million pounds,"  inheritance letters, I suppose.
