If it carries on much longer there will be nothing left standing for Israel to bomb.

Collective punishment is a war crime.

Strongly evidenced by the destruction of Gaza's only power station. If that's not deliberately targeting innocents, what is?

You nutters can post the same line as many times as you like. Provide the evidence that Israel is deliberately killing women and children. Not that they are lacking caution or have been negligent in their approach. Give us definitive evidence. If you don't have it shut your cake holes and think before you post in future.

You didn't use the words themselves but it is clear you had the final solution in mind with your reference to what the Nazis did in Warsaw with the Jews which was an integral part of the final solution.

I didn't mention the Jews either, just WARSAW UPRISING. And no, what you refer to was not "an integral part of the final solution", and my inference was obvious - a people captive, CONCENTRATED and incarcerated in a relatively small area, unable to escape either captivity or attack by their oppressors.
What a disingenuous, deranged wretch you are.
...................................................................................................

Well probably because when you think of commies you think of evil but of course let's not forget the sainted Nelson or should I say multi millionaire man of the people Mandela?

He might've been the richest man on earth, but it was immaterial while being imprisoned by your Nazi chums for 27 years.

Oay gentlemen you asked for it:

First tiptheodds:

You cite evidence of an Israeli sniper shooting civilians. I don't see the evidence of where this is official Israeli policy. Where is it? At worst this is one person committing what could well be murder. Simple as that.According to th report a colleague of his snatched away the weapon. Doesn't suggest a policy to me. Does it to you? If you shoot your neighbour I wouldn't expect the world to accuse Britain of having a policy of murdering civilians. Find me the requested evidence or zip it. I will not in all conscience allow you to hold Israel to higher standards than others because they happen to be Jews.

Try again. Better next time.

Alias

Let's not get sidetracked by Mandela who became a great statesman. I'll just make the simple statement that a true communist doesn't leave millions in his will. See if you can work that out yourself. Once again I'll leave your ad hominem attacks and comments linking me to Nazis to one side. They are the actions of a desperate man but keep it up and I will lay waste to you on that issue as well.

On this specific issue you're dancing. Pause for a moment. Either you were referencing Warsaw with reference to the Jews or you weren't. My guess is you were. Correct me if I'm wrong. I've already explained why the comparison is so far off the mark as to be otiose but allow me to remind you of the salient facts:

Many hundreds of thousands were crowded into inhumane conditions in Warsaw on a proverbial postage stamp. Gaza is incomparably bigger in comparison to space and numbers and over many years has been in receipt of more aid from Israel than the vast majority of the worlds other nations. There is also a long list of other assistance Israel has provided to the Palestinians which I put up on the politics forum and where nobody was able to rebut a single one. Totally different.

The Warsaw ghetto was implemented to facilitate the final solution. You may not like that apparently being a Jew hater but hey history is history. The Jews were there as a prelude to being murdered. The Palestinians are not. Totally different.

The Jews had no say in what was happening. The situation in Gaza is again incomparable. It was under military occuption by Egypt until the late 60's. A decade ago Israel gave it the right to self governance and did so unilaterally despite being repeatedly subjected to rocket attacks. Would Egypt have allowed that? Who knows but they didn't when they had the chance. Them's yer muslim brothers sucker. Totally different.

The walls which Israel has built have been done to help prevent the inconceivably horrendous suicide bombs which were ripping their people apart. They wanted the nutters kept out of Israel. The Nazis wanted the Jews kept in Warsaw prior to their mass slaughter. Totally different.

There is no evidence of any policy of Israel deliberately killing or targeting civilians. That was the whole reason for the final solution. Totally different.

Estimates vary but up to six million Jews were systematically murdered by the Nazis as a part of a deliberate policy. At the most a few thousand Palestinian civilians have been killed with the vast majority of these dying as I said through negligence or in an attempt to get the fundamentalist nutters hiding in their midst but none as far as I know as a deliberate attempt by the Israeli state to wipe out the Palestinians en masse. Totally different.

And now on to the height of your pi55 poor argument:

and my inference was obvious - a people captive, CONCENTRATED and incarcerated in a relatively small area, unable to escape either captivity or attack by their oppressors.

War is shiit. All war. Civilians often find themselves in such situations when conflict arises. They are often seen in their hundreds of thousands as collateral damage. Our own country is guilty of this as are many of the western powers. During WW2 we took it in turns to deliberately lay waste to whole cities which had no strategic military use other than to demolarise the populace.

It's not for me to tell the Palestinian people how to order their society but I wouldn't think it wise to allow terrorist organisations to operate in their midst from their schools and hospitals. If they do that it is a dangerous situation to put themselves in because obviously Israel are going to seek to target these terrorist nutters to prevent them targeting Israeli civilians. I can see why the terrorist nutters do this. A dead civilian is a good civilian for propaganda purposes. Especially a Paalestinian. While I'm at it, and it is just a thought, but maybe they should think about stopping firing rockets into Israel, fill in the terror tunnels, renounce Hamas and get all reference to the elimination of the State Of Israel removed from all literature. You see? There does seem to be a way to work through this situation to a workable solution and not a final one. The Jews also had a choice under the Nazis. They could die slowly or quickly. Totally different.

Just a thought. Who knows they may find Israel a more amenable neighbour? And if they aren't I'd guess there would be a lot less sympathy for Israel and more for the Palestinians.

This is another sucker I'm done with. Drag him out and send me another if anybody can find one. Preferably one with a little more intelligence and less prone to hissy fits.

By the way none of this is any kind of claim that Israel hasn't acted badly here both from a humanitarian perspective and indeed in facilitating a lasting settlement. But I ain't taking a speck out of the Jews eye while the beam sits there in their enemy combatants eyes. That is just not cricket.

First the entire conflict was not brought about by Hamas , many would say the opposite and say it was engineered by Israel who wanted to bring down the unity agreement between Hamas and Fatah.

Second it is accepted by all sides that Hamas did not sanction the kidnap of those kids , it was done by people outside their control. By the way they were not tortured but shot within minutes of being taken. In response Israeli forces went to the house of the mother of a suspect and blew it up with dynamite.Israel then broke their agreement of the Shilat  deal by re arresting 600 prisoners it had released and by killing 6 people in raids across the West bank. All the while stirring up racial hatred even though their intelligence already knew those boys were dead.

Who broke what ceasefires cannot be proven , what is certain is both sides broke them. Currently the Palestinians are the only side in Cairo for peace talks. You sound completely brainwashed and unable to study the conflict without demonising Hamas and the Palestinians .

What is complete and utter rubbish is for you to accuse the UN of doctoring figures of casualties in this war zone.

hamas kidnapping 3 kids, torturing and murdering them - thats rubbish.

If 3 English students were kidnapped and killed in a republican area of Northern Ireland, should we respond to it in the same way Israel responded to their kidnapping situation?

I find politicians in this country (and some people) justifying things that they would never dream of doing in similar situations in Britain.

Report polybot • August 3, 2014 12:42 PM BST
First, no, the IDF operation was IN RESPONSE to qassam rocket attacks from hamas. This is undisputed by all rational sources, and even by the UN. Besides there has been no real unity since hamas rousted fatah from gaza, killing over a hundred in the process, and given the comments of abbas, no real unity now.

Second, so you are saying it is not just hamas, even non-hamas aligned palestinians are committing terrorist acts?

It's relatively easy to prove who, and no, both sides can't break a ceasefire, a ceasefire is broken when one side breaks it, and after hamas broke 6 you can understand the israelis not wanting to walk into another pit.

And the UN figures, who reports it? How do they know if they died from hamas rockets that fell short or were collaborators or protesters executed by hamas?
Can you answer why the press were reporting hamas officials rushing in to clear missile debris evidence?

But as I've said, whether real numbers or not, for hamas the more deaths the better, and for them any man , woman or child will do, palestinian arab, israeli arab, israeli christian or israeli jew.

tiptheodds, as has been said, the israelis use rockets (iron dome) to defend their people, hamas use people to defend their rockets.
In answer to both questions, were the US justified in invading and occupying german territory during WWII? Did they have a right to demand the end of the nazi party and its ideology? How many US civilians had the nazis killed and how many the US. As an aside, the founder of the palestinan movement was a close ally of the nazis.

The israelis have been attacked constantly by the arabs since the UN mandate, all the lands taken in response have been the result of arab (often genocidal) aggression, and the occupied land held for defensive reasons though much was given back voluntarily, most recently gaza which was then immediately turned into a hamas military offensive position.

Read the hamas covent, they do not want to return some land, they want the destruction of israel.

When rockets are fired at Israel, how long does it take for a IDF tank to work out where it was fired from and then fire back?

5 seconds?
5 minutes?
20 minutes?

If takes more than a few minutes, chances are very high that the Hamas guys who fired those rockets are no longer in that area.

So the IDF end up firing shells at whatever building was next to firing point.

Great, thats really effective. Its hardly self defense.

Are you? Are you busily rushing around gaza checking where and whose rockets are being fired from and where they are landing?
And I wouldn't need to be on the ground to work out who broke the ceasefire, it's the most heavily monitored spot on earth at the moment.

-“I have unequivocally condemned Hamas and the Palestinian factions that were responsible for killing two Israeli soldiers and abducting a third minutes after a ceasefire was announced,” Obama said.

"Maybe you can explain why just hours before the 72 hour ceasefire , Israel launched an all out
attack on the town of Rafah ?"

You must have felt a bit dopey after actually posting that, so i won't rub it in.

"There is only one side killing children and you should be ashamed of your defence of this senseless murder."

Not defending senseless murder, merely pointing out the cause. And we know of at least 3 kids killed by palestinians, as for hamas, quite a few would have died building those tunnels, and those tunnels were being built to kill quite a few more.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/wp/2014/07/31/if-liberal-elites-really-cared-about-gazan-children/

Misfired rockets have also killed and injured Palestinians within the Gaza Strip. However, due to harsh restrictions in information politics and a total lack of free press in the Gaza strip, precisely reporting the number of Palestinian victims is impossible. As far as it became known, the missiles, rockets and mortars have killed six Palestinians and injured dozens more. On June 8, 2005, rockets fired at the Israeli settlement of Ganei Tal killed two Palestinian workers and one Chinese worker in a packing plant. On August 2, 2005, a rocket apparently launched by Islamic Jihad killed a 6-year-old boy and his father in Beit Hanoun.[35] On December 26, 2008 a mortar aimed at Israel killed two Palestinian girls in the Gaza Strip, aged 5 and 12.[138]

Numbers from current conflict are to be clarified but at least 2 grads are thought to have hit civilians though these and other examples will be covered up.

Polybot you said Obama is no friend of Israel yet the US under Obama continues to support Israel unequivocally, where it matters, diplomatically, financially ($3.1bn pa) and militarily.

Oh and please do not quote anything from Wiki as fact, that only shows your desperation.

Am I missing something here? Israel have said repeatedly that if Hamas stop firing rockets at them, they will stop responding. So why don't Hamas stop ?
Report Irish_Celtic • August 3, 2014 3:16 PM BST
Have they also said they will stop ethnic cleansing and building illegal settlements in the West Bank ?

Have they said they will end the blockade of Gaza ?

Thought not.

Why don't they ?
Report artie • August 3, 2014 3:21 PM BST
.....So why don't Hamas stop ? Any answers ?
Report Irish_Celtic • August 3, 2014 3:34 PM BST
Sadly artie life is not that simple. They have said they will stop when the criminal blockade is lifted.

1.8 million people forced to live like rats in a concentration camp in the year 2014 just wont do im afraid.

If they stop and go silent for the next 10 years , sadly nothing will change , most likely except the theft of more of their land by Israel.

So you see ,maybe its Israel who has questions to answer , just as Hamas has questions to answer.
Report artie • August 3, 2014 3:43 PM BST
Ah.I understand. They are firing rockets resulting in thousands of deaths because of retaliation,to draw attention to their unpleasant lives. Not very bright are they ?
Report Irish_Celtic • August 3, 2014 3:48 PM BST
What is not very bright artie is turning world opinion against yourself, becoming a rogue state , and alienating yourself from your allies.

This "retaliation " you speak of , is that mandatory , necessary , legal , justified ,humane  or any of above ?

What will it achieve ?

Has Israel won or lost this war artie ?
Report artie • August 3, 2014 3:56 PM BST
".... and alienating yourself from your allies." From what I see on the TV news ,this is exactly what Hamas have done .

I'm no spring chicken, and there are Palestinian people of my age, hundreds of thousands of them, who have never had a permanent home, thanks to Israeli expansion. You can argue the opposing merits of the present conflagration all you like, but get back to the root of the problem, and it isn't the ordinary Palestinians to blame.

Those posters who talk of "Hamas terrorists", a la Netanyahu, should remember that Zionists became pretty good at the terror game too. Ever heard of IRGUN?

Back to the present, and isn't it incredibly sad that a people who suffered so desperately under the Nazis should now be seen as acting like Nazis?
Report brendanuk1 • August 3, 2014 4:39 PM BST
people/states in power will always act the coont, whats sad is the world standing watching schools and hospitals being bombed and washing their hands of it. I include west and other arab countries
Report TiptheOdds • August 3, 2014 6:12 PM BST
artie, what has been happening for many years in what is left of Palestine is that Palestinian families get 24 hours to leave their homes by the IDF; then the bulldozers come along and level their homes, where many have lived all their lives; then illegal settlements are built to house incoming Jews, often from the old Soviet Union. A large percentage of the 1.6m people who live in Gaza are refugees who have lost their homes in this way.

One of the few conditions Hamas have consistently demanded from peace talks is an end to illegal settlements. Essentially this is Israel invading Palestine. What is wrong with that?

with reference to the conflict between Hamas and Fatah

Documents published in the Palestine Papers reveal that the British intelligence MI6 in 2004, helped draw up a security plan for Fatah-led Palestinian Authority. The plan mentioned as an objective, "encourage and enable the Palestinian Authority (PA) to fully meet its security obligations under Phase 1 of the Roadmap". It proposes a number of ways of "degrading the capabilities of rejectionists", naming Hamas, PIJ (Palestinian Islamic Jihad) and the al-Aqsa Brigades.
The plan was described by the Guardian as a "wide-ranging crackdown on Hamas". The supposed plan for a Fatah counter-insurgence against Hamas backfired in June 2006, when Hamas won the 2006 elections.

Several sources speak of considerable involvement by the US, Israel and Arab states, after Hamas announced the formation of its own security service, the Executive Force, which was denounced by Mahmoud Abbas as unconstitutional.
The Presidential Guard of Mahmoud Abbas was enlarged and equipped, and its members trained by the US, Egypt and Jordan. Also, a PLC council member for Hamas, Anwar Zaboun, believes that ″Mohammed Dahlan had a big plan to remove the roots of Hamas, the resistance, in Gaza and the West Bank″.

According to the IISS, the June 2007 escalation was triggered by Hamas' conviction that the PA's Presidential Guard, loyal to Mahmoud Abbas, was being positioned to take control of Gaza. The US had helped build up the Presidential Guard to 3,500 men since August 2006.
The US committed $59 million for training and non-lethal equipment for the Presidential Guard, and persuaded Arab allies to fund the purchase of further weapons. Israel, too, allowed light arms to flow to members of the Presidential Guard. Jordan and Egypt hosted at least two battalions for training.
