guilty still got loads of dvd's in their wrappers

On the next occasion of my birthday I am going to beg to not be bought any, unless I specifically ask for them.

probably got over a thousand dvds and blu rays. i do watch em, but at most 1 a day. i have plenty i bought maybe 5 years ago that i havent got round to watching. only so many hours in a day to do stuff. if they get watched in a 2 year rotation, theyre good movies!

Everything is on demand/streamed nowadays

Loads of charity shop bargains I will very rarely watch. Me and the Mrs will watch our favourite movies halfway through when they are on TV but we will have the full movie on DVD just gathering dust.

I think it's the idea that someone else in the country is watching it too. If you stick on a dvd you might be the only person in the world watching it at that time...

Literally 1000's of cd's all downloaded....I imagine the % played very small.

Still got the video player joined to the telly. Probably got 200 old films, mostly kids cartoons that the grandchildren like. About 400 films on DVD, but not that many music CDs, I'd guess at about 60, and over a quarter of  of those are Beatles, even though I have all the albums on vinyl.

Certainly CDs. Guilty on that score with probably 400-500. DVDs you can probably count on 2 hands. Oddly just got a Daewoo Personal Cassette player to relive my youth lol.

You can keep your iPods and downloads and kindle. I like to see what I've collected.

my least watched movies are new releases ive never seen. thats something im clamping down on. got loads ive bought, watched once and probably wont watch ever again. i like having all my favourite ones, cos if i wanna watch summat i can. but new movies are better to watch on the tv or streaming first. then buy it sometime in the future if you want to watch it again.

depends a lot on what genres you like most, horror movies and thrillers generally arent anywhere near as good to rewatch as comedies are. movies with suspense and twists are pretty much pointless owning once youve watched it and find out what happens. unless theyre absolute classics like hitchcock.

collections are a waste of money, but then everything is. gotta spend your money on summat. some people like collection of movies, some people like travelling, some people like cocaine. everybody wastes money somewhere or theres no point earning it.

i worked out ive probab;y spent over 10k on dvds and blu rays over the years, but then i thought "what would i do with that money?" and to be honest, nothing. i could have gone on a cruise. no interest in doing that, id rather have my movie collection. wouldnt go on a cruise if it was free. like i said, everybody likes different things.

Collecting is like an addiction. No matter what one collects, one has to get the complete collection. I started collecting Baseball cards and ended up with quite literally thousands and thousands of them.

Funny you mention Hitchcock. I started collecting his movies and wasn`t content until I had every movie he has made, including his silent films, that are available on dvd. Brilliant director. So many favourite films.

lol. well you cant ever get every dvd so im safe that way i suppose.
though i do seem to be trying to own every movie ive ever liked in my entire life.

its therapy i think. takes your mind off how pointless life is, that were all gonna die and the world is a sh1thole.

Then I had to get them on Blu Ray if available. Bought the set you mentioned before, but being Scottish I only paid £35 for them unlike you paying £90

thats a shame, ive got a load id like to offload!

bought the big blu ray set, got 12 or 13 movies on dvd that are in the set.
actually got psycho 5 times now. once on its own dvd, once in a dvd hitchcock set, once in a psycho dvd boxset, once on blu ray on its own and once again in the blu ray box set. unbelievable jeff! cant give the feckers away lol

Do you ever worry what will happen to your obviously wonderful dvd collection when you leave this terrible world?

the big one with the reel cases? i saw it on zavvi for about 60 quid. bit annoying that.

Yes that`s the one, £35 was a tremendous bargain. Was 2nd hand but discs in new condition. I got lucky.

Check out Zaavi every Monday. They give a few great bargains on Box Sets but price is only kept for 24 hours.

tbh i thought 90 quid was a bargain. its a very impressive set. works out at not much more than a fiver a movie. surprised it didnt sell out long ago.

just looked on zavvi and the universal monsters blu ray set 18.99...breaks my heart that lol. i bought it ages ago on amazon for about 35 quid

I got that set on Blu Ray too for under 20 quid. Brilliant collection. Lon Chaney as the Wolfman being my favourite.
