Watched an Uruguayan interview with him right after the final whistle, and you could tell that he knew he had done something wrong. He wasn't as happy as he should have been when they just had qualified for the next round.

I'm sorry Twizzle I have to disagree, imo cannibalism is a very serious issue in the 21st century.

He should be banned from holding ANY professional position in ANY football club. It is no different to sticking used syringes into people. If he has broken the skin he should be destroyed.

He is loveable rogue. He should get banned for a period but is the offence any worse than going in with a two footed tackle that could ruin another players career.
Doubt the ban will apply to club football.

From what I can see the Italian bumped into Suarez with his shoulder and really hurt Suarez's teeth. No doubt will be cleared soon of any wrong doing by FIFA.

Shirt pulling by defenders is a more cynical and serious act of foul play while punching and elbowing is a more violent act of foul play than the one that happened yesterday. If he really wanted to bite the Italian player then he would have.

He is a great player, he is no parasite, this man is worth watching on a football field
He has not seriously hurt anyone with his bites, neither do I think that he makes a considered decision, because he has too much to lose
No, this man his problems controlling his temper. But rules are rules, so if found guilty I would hope no more than a 6 month ban
pumphol you think Suarez motive was cannibalism, FFS get a grip!!

Many moons ago, a london football team was travelling down the M4 motorway by coach to Bristol for a match when another football team's bus bound for Swindon went past. As they passed the players to a man all gave the finger to those in the slower other vehicle. The trailing bus driver was hartily chiveed and encouraged to pass the offending coach whereupon the players then gave all the other players a w4nker sign. Within a good half hour travelling at speeds well over the speed limit, the original offenders having finally managed to take over the leading bus again all took their pants down and mooned at the other bus. In the outside lane just approaching the Swindon exit the Bristol bound boys overtook the Swindon bus with several players standing up naked with their appendages delicately placed somewhat close to various teammates open mouths. At this point being a passenger I felt this had to stop because if anyone else happened to see it we were clearly bringing the game into disrepute . I feel the same about Luis Suarez now.

Bring a player down with a dirty tackle and break his leg, get red-carded, and it's forgotten about in 5 minutes.
Allegedly give a black player racist abuse and all hell breaks loose. Get taken to the High Court and found not guilty of racism. The British legal system wasn't good for the F.A though. They had their own hearing and declared that John Terry was a racist.
This wasn't a 'bumped into me' foul. Suarez plainly bit this player on the shoulder, and his captain said on television 'It was nothing.'
Also shocked that the referee didn't do anything either. What if the player had got up and nutted Suarez, breaking his nose, would that have been 'nothing' as well?
I think players should ne alowed to carry machetes in future matches, but if you use it more than twice, you get a yellow card.

Is really is beyond the pale to be honest, you just cant have these Italian footballers with big broad shoulders playing football, your just asking for trouble

has he ever had counselling over this? i mean, its not normal going around biting people. its not an anger thing, its a weird as fook thing. he needs psychiatric help.

Can understand why he has not shown any public remorse for the latest incident. Its similar to Maradonna not owning up to the hand of god goal until years later. I can only imagine some people are brought up with different values to what is acceptable in sport.
Now that his punishment has been handed out I would hope he will show remorse for his actions which are unacceptable. But a little perspective here. He has plenty of practise at doing what he did a few days ago. If he really wanted to bite someone in a more violent way he would have.
When he loses control he has the mind of a street fighter who was brought up in rough conditions.
He does a lot of things for the less well off in Liverpool outside of football. He is a great player and he is not a bad person.

Why is it in all walks of life nowadays many are very quick to defend the indefensible?

The Chipmonk certainly does like to get his teeth stuck in when playing, but I do hanker a small liking for our toothy friend as he won me loads of money about a year back when he scored a last minute goal. Still, what he did is inexcusable and he should rightfully so pay the penalty.
Has any considered a muzzle?

Not defending him. It was not premeditated. It was a moment of madness where he had no control over his actions. Whats wrong to be sympathetic to a person who whose action never hurt anyone other tham himself.

Burton Brewers I think your being very harsh. I appreciate how you can say those things but sometimes you need to judge a person by the standards of the conditions they were brought up in. Not defending the indefensible an he deserves to miss the rest of the world cup.

the conditions they were brought up in? he's been playing in Europe for nearly 9 seasons now, don't you think he should have left his shanty town mentality behind after all this time? How many other South Americans have come from bad backgrounds and done the same as him? I also see not many have mentioned the fact he head butted a ref when he was 16 and you feel sorry for him

Burton-Brewers • June 26, 2014 8:46 PM BST he wont apologise he's a sneaky coward
He is no coward BB, he's a real man who has been brought up in tough conditions In Uruguay I imagine football is a man's game However he owes an apology to his own teammates and country, he has let them down, not intentionally I believe they need him on the pitch
The trouble with us, we are turning into a load of weak. wimpy women However rules are rules

When Beckham got himself sent off against Argentina all those years ago, he let us down, although he tried to make up for it since
If he does this again, I think he will be banned for good he needs a long look at himself now

Uruguay are through to the quarters but have lost Suarez, he must feel great shame for this if he also feels ashamed for the bite, well that is all to the good so maybe an apology is appropriate, once he has calmed down, I hope he gives one later

a great player and I mean great (a different league to Rooney etc).
Probably the player of the tournament so far, so a real pity he's got a ban
but.... FFS you have GOT to learn from your previous mistakes OR be prepared to face the punishment.

He is facing it..you do not see how bad it will be him if URUGUAY DO NOT WIN WORLD CUP....he will always feel he contributed to it He already has all the fame and money anyone would ever want..he would rather play in the WC and then face a long ban
Suarez is not getting away with anything believe me.... he will never bite again

In reply to bigmo, the absence of premeditation does not make what Suarez done right nor should it mean he should escape punishment. That he should miss the rest of the world cup was inevitable and fair. The length of the punishment is not even what I am arguing about. His punishment is feeling guilty about letting down his country. Its a very severe punishment but I would not argue it was the right one.
I don't believe he had any self control over his actions for the split second he committed the offence. In that sense it was not premediatated where he had longer to think about something and use his self control. His self control was absent.
He was not in his right mind at the time. For those few seconds. I am not saying he is insane but for a few seconds he had no control over his mind and so it was an illness.
I think the nature of football at both club and international level means he will have little sympathy outside of Uruguay and Liverppol. But he never killed anyone. No one was even hurt.

I can understand the reaction of the Italian player and the Italian team during the match but afterwards and with a chance to think about things I would have had a lot of respect for the Italian player bitten if he had tried to stick up for Suarez in some way. Suarez is not a bad person. Infact I wish more players were like him off the field.
Think I am allowed to show empathy with one of the few modern day players who lives up to the tag of being great and someone who is wonderful off the pitch.
Case now closed. Others will disagree and that's fine.

How the hell is he player of the tournament? He missed their first game, scored two against some no-hopers and then should've been sent off against Italy. Maradona '86, he wasn't.

He has been given a heroes welcome back in Uruguay. Not condoning what he did but the reaction in Uruguay seems one of it being a nothing incident and something which happens in Uruguayan football. Shame he will miss out on the biggest match he will ever likely play while he is at his peak.

Well he missed a World Cup semi through suspension, so he's probably used to it by now.
I agree with most of what you've said earlier. Chiellini has spoken out in Suarez' defence since the ban was imposed.
