Absolutely ebulGery, to suggest that the cat was intentionally defending the brat is ridiculous.

I would not go that far Dr Crippen

A cat will defend it's territory. But cat's have bee known to warn owners.

So may would have sensed a danger to this child, part of owners family.

I don't know I am not a cat psychologist. I do not think this was a fake.

I was brought up with  a cat about the house, still have one, a home does seem complete

to me without one.

Some people love him, some people hate them.

ps

They can be fussy eaters

Territory is everything to a cat, often more important than their owners to them.

In the wild they would have to carve out their own territory in which to hunt. So it is a basic instinct to a cat.

In our modern urban world, a cat is not a bad companion animal.

Dogs cannot be left on their own, cats can.

Dogs must have daily walks, cats exercise themselves.

Had my cat for years and years, feed it every day (twice - small amounts), water it, change its litter tray. If I died the cat would walk past my corpse and not bat an eye.

They have more psychological feelings than you think Pounf

In fact all mammals and birds to an extent do.......

We need to find and explain altruistic behaviour in them

because we need it ourselves, we have a lot less than you may think

Cats are also relatively clean animals

they bury their droppings

often in neighbour's gardens I am afraid

cats cannot recognise human boundaries, only cat ones

neighbours should use buckets of water, hosepipe to deter them, if they are not happy

good manure though

A dog will always be the most loyal..because of its nature

It is a pack animal. it will defend its pack ...which is how it sees us

A wild cat is an individual animal...it sticks to us, because its think we are a parent

They are not the same...so don't expect the same

I had a dog once, he was everything a dog should be

I am not mobile enough to have one now,

Some people like the independence they see in cats

some of us admire its brazen nerve...the way it seems to see us as a permanently open restaurantLaugh

a cat is like us, in fact all life

it is just trying to make the best of things in a tough world

Yeah but their widdle  stinks and they do it in the same place all the time, plus they don't always get a chance to bury their shytes and sometimes can't if it's a sloppy one.

I am a cat  person but it's rollocks to suggest they're clean just coz they do it in a neighbours garden.

I did not say that..

I said

often in neighbour's gardens I am afraid

I meant

the fact that they did bury their droppings, made them, relatively clean

as opposed to dogs, rabbits, birds, etc

urine is also used to mark cat boundaries

my cat has to do it in someone's garden, I live in a first floor maisonette

I wish he would not, I wish he would go in the woods or something

they also clean themselves a lot, a neutered male, smell less than an unneutered one.

Unless they are used for breeding, all cats should be neutered, male and female

Yeah, well if male cats aren't fixed they do it under your chrimbo tree and the jumper has to be washed, re-wrapped and redirected to a lesser relative ShockedCry
