Looks like another series of jollies have been lined up by plod:

"Scotland Yard says it hopes UK officers will begin operations in Portugal soon."

Ah well, best pack some sun cream and a floppy hat...Cool

Worth investigating...especially if it means a few more trips to the Algarve and more overtime etc.

I don't recall any unsolved kidnap/murder cases regarding Portuguese nationals in this country. I'm sure that, if such a case does exist, the British police will help wherever possible.

Perhaps the British family referred to by '!st time poster' were unaware of the alleged assault. That would account for not reporting it to the police. Anyway, it seems that they HAVE reported it now. I assume the Portuguese police will conduct a thorough investigation. Perhaps they could make the details known to the team on the McCann case.

They've got more chance of finding Lord Lucan than solving this case.

Far more beneficial for all parties to keep the "investigation" going. Cool

Those who have leeched finance off the Mccanns by giving them hope that Madeliene may be found should be ashamed of themselves.
It must be dreadful for them not knowing and they have conducted themselves with great dignity.

they were aware and reported to the tour operator, neither the parents or the tour operator reported it to the police which rather shows how serious they thought it was

I trust you are being sarcastic with your Mccanns conducted themselves with great dignity comment.

There must be an almost limitless number of dodgy individuals who can be linked to the Algarve in some way - this investigation has only just started.

Nobody mention the video of the two best sniffer dogs in the world who detected the scent of death in mccanns appartment.

Nobody mention the man with brown hair who was roughly gerrys height walking towards the beach carrying a young girl.

Nobody mention the catholic church that gave gerry the keys thats located by the beach and was never searched (the perfect place to store a body until some very high ranking people could get rid of it)

Nobody mention gordon brown, gerrys top mate and nobody mention paedophile rings ran by the people in the highest positions of power.

Dont blame it on the gerry
Dont blame it on the katee
Blame it on the portuguese boogie man

Nobody mention the portuguese police were certain the parents were involved lets instead completely discredit the portuguese police and make out they are clueless muppets.

Anybody who believes kate and gerry had anything to do with it bonkers clearly

Teabag. So, if the Portuguese police and the sniffer dogs were doing so well...why didn't they uncover any actual evidence? Something that could be produced in court, instead of a load of accusations and insinuations? Would the sniffer dogs have given evidence under oath? I think not!

Questioning of four suspects in the Madeleine McCann investigation has concluded without any new developments, a source has told the BBC....

The source told the BBC: "Questioning of the four suspects was concluded yesterday evening. Unfortunately the interviews have led to no new developments and we are back where we were seven years ago."

Well there's a surprise.
What a complete waste of money for the taxpayer.
No doubt plod has lined another series of jollies to explore other lines of enquiry.

I can think of better jollies than digging up an old pet cemetary and searching sewers in 30 deg C heat.  It looks like the obvious lines of enquiry have been off-limits for SY as some reports suggested they would be when the investigation was re-opened but hopefully they are actually being a lot smarter than they appear at first glance

Indeed the few real witnesses from the night of the disappearance apparently not interviewed - at least not that we know of.

Said it before and I will repeat it again , told on good authority that when the Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe was caught by two plods who luckily just happened to stumble upon him , the plods in question were practically 'Sent To Coventry' by the rest of the beat bobbies as the OT they were getting doing 'Ripper checks' etc was paying for new houses, cars etc and that was all taken away from them.

Sounds familiar.

Suits all concerned to keep this charade going and the taxpayer continues to pick up the bill.
By:

When: 03 Jul 14 16:06
The taxpayer pays the police to do a job. That is what they are trying to do. They may not make any significant progress from these latest events, although, even elimination from investigation is progress.
By:

When: 03 Jul 14 17:15
they,ve already been eliminated 7 yrs ago
By:

When: 03 Jul 14 17:39
That's the point naydam, it's a complete waste of taxpayers money and there will continue to be absolutely nothing to show for it.

How many more millions will continue to be spent eliminating everyone who happened to be in the Algarve in 2007 from the investigation?

When: 03 Jul 14 18:53
Not sure what westdags issue is but the British Police are just doing what should have been done during the initial stages of the enquiry.

It's a waste of time and they need a lot of luck but there are a lot of missing kids across Spain Portugal and France unaccounted for over the last 30 years,
