Whatever camp your in......................its too late in the day

And in the meantime more millions get paid out to end up precisely nowhere near solving the case. Nice work if you can get it.

How much do people normally get if a child goes missing ?
|

Is the suggestion that the police should just give up on any effort of finding the culprits?
|
|
By:
My point is that the police are clutching at straws and having a jolly into the bargain.
|

By:
They would not have started if the parents had been unemployed and resided on a council estate.

Dont want to upset U JD..................but people think ......................there are no culprits

'Suspects due to be arrested' weeks ago............that's what the 'news' said. So?

A gravy train that suits all parties just fine.

Who does 'They' refer to?
|
|
By:
^ plod I suspect
|
|
By:
That is what I thought it might mean. Although it could have meant the Portuguese Police. I thought that the British police only became involved when it became pretty certain that the investigation had been botched from the start. I can only assume that they would have done exactly he same for any other couple.
Having said that...it would not be easy to get a satisfactory response. You would need to put a great deal of effort into it. The problem that the police have with this case is the time elapsed and the poor(?) quality of the recorded evidence at the time. Far from being 'jolly', this must be a hell of a difficult case do work on. ![]() |

I would say the only chance our plod have
is if they can pull in a suspect, get a search warrant, and find evidence of Maddy's DNA they may have records of telephone conversations to and from known paedophiles but they still do not know what was said,???? That is the route they are taking I would think, mega difficult if complete stranger snatched her I would have thought |

None too important exactly who - just as long as it looks like someat is happening like. |

It's only still news because they're posh and the Dailys Mail and Express are still making a huge hoo-haa about it all. So true, if it had been Madeline McScroty from Basildon, she'd have been forgotten about many moons ago.
Police cant not follow it up because of the media storm those rags mentioned would create |

And so it goes on...
Scotland Yard has played down speculation of imminent arrests in the case saying they are pursuing several lines of inquiry. Met officers have been to Portugal more than 20 times in the past 18 months. |
|
By:
"'Tempo of Madeleine McCann inquiry moving forwards,' say police "
They're achieving forward motion, in chit-chat terms. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/tempo-of-madeleine-mccann-inquiry-moving-forwards-say-police-9126239.html?origin=internalSearch |
|
By:
Come to think of it, the tempo is moving forwards? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Roughly speaking, the content of plod's press release indicates that time moves forward in a largely chronological fashion. An incredible piece of police say-nothing bullsh!t, have they nothing better to do with their time, except increase it, moving forwards?
|
|
By:
pursuing several lines of enquiry is plodspeak for "we are clutching a few straws as otherwise we've no idea what happened."
|
|
By:
They are trying to get on with an investigation. They would probably appreciate if Joe Public and the press would let them get on with it. I doubt if the police ever want to make interim reports unless appealing for witnesses.
I don't suppose that anybody might consider that all this travelling to and from Portugal might be a pain in the arse. Everything is stacked against them and it takes a lot of self-discipline and a strong work ethic to maintain your professional standards in situations like that. It's particularly annoying when everybody seems to think that you are just enjoying yourself! Perhaps these accusations say more about the posters than the police. Perhaps the accusations are correct. Maybe they DO have a sliding scale of funds allotted to missing children, depending upon the financial state of the parents. I suppose it could, or maybe should, be argued that the child of a well-educated, married couple might represent a greater loss than the urchin of some single woman who will never work and doesn't know who it's father is. |
|
By:
I know you have always been supportive of the enquiry Naydam - contrary to the majority of we cynics.
But even you would agree the police, if you are correct, have created their own problem with nonsense such as the 'Crimewatch' programme and promises of developments and imminent arrests of unknown burglars etc. Also the Lisbon libel case which is stagnant. This is going nowhere - not this week or next or next month or year, I'm sad to say. |
|
By:
the tapas mob deserve more scrutiny
they could solve it in a week if they really wanted to, but sadly they don't appear to want to I wonder why? |
|
By:
I have to agree, Ivor. The trail, if there ever was a trail, has gone cold. To be honest, I was always very worried that the media made such a big thing of the easily identifiable abnormality with her eye. Whoever had her, if indeed she WAS kidnapped, would surely realise that could prove to be a problem to them.
In my opinion those photographs seriously endangered the child's life. That is assuming, of course, that she was alive at the time. There are plenty of people who think that she may not have been. |
|
By:
ffs you,d need to be within an inch of her face with a magnifying class to notice her eye,do you think whoever took her if she was taken, would let anybody within a country mile of her,she was 4 m,she could talk ffs ,

I was referring to any future visits to a doctor or optician or the police. Or, indeed, if she was ever to check the internet or whatever they might have in ten years time. That identifying mark will be with her for life...or t least as long as she has that eye.

Seems like plod have come up with a new line of enquiry. And there was me thinking they were just out there on a jolly.
I await developments with baited breath... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26646885 |

Only a matter of time before everybody in Portugal is eliminated, except the parents.
|
|
By:
Some interesting new info has become available. Apparently, it was due to the BBC Crimewatch programme. That is pleasing to hear.
I'm fairly sure that the parents and their friends will have been eliminated already. They would be the first people questioned. I can only assume that the police are satisfied with the innocence of ALL the 'Tapas' group. |
