I remember reading a couple of articles a long time ago where it was mentioned that he'd boxed. If memory serves me right one of the comments about this came from the fella in drag Marilyn who used to knock about with him and had a minor pop career. I've no idea to what standard he boxed or if this is indeed correct.

Undoubtedly, the decision to set his new music video in a boxing club is a nod to Gerry, who loved boxing and spent much of George's youth hopelessly trying to instil the same passion in him. If only he'd been around to see his son finally take it up in his 50s, as part of his exercise routine.Cry

George's next project is a rewrite of the musical Taboo: he wants the last scene to be him and his father boxing. "I think it will be beautiful," he says with perfect serenity.

He was no more of a boxer than the thousands of other kids that get dragged down to the boxing gym by their dad`s. No glittering amateur  career, no recorded fights no nothing!

His dad was the manager of the boxing club, so more than likely to go there more often than the average kid.

My stuff is an uncorroborated stream of conciousness where detail and accuracy are fairly low down on the list of priorities. It's the chit chat way, imo

I'm not sure an inaccuracy  on chit chat is that big a deal AG - accuracy certainly isn't ( I include myself there )

I wouldn't be surprised if George fought behind a ramrod left jab, utilizing his reach

He had pretty decent footwork for a big man from what I recall of his Karma Chameleon video

And Alan Carr was a high class centre half for Newcastle!

You weren't far out, his dad was a pro footballer. I remeber him at Bradford Park Avenue.

Chief scout for Newcastle as well Kenny, and many more. Plus various coaching jobs.

But as i said it don`t make Alan a centre half!

Yes Kenny, George and Alan Carr were both the `pink sheep` of the family obviously but both had macho dad`s who had a lot to do with sport and as kids both boys wanted to please their dad`s. Alan Carr run about the side lines getting excited and happy clappy at football matches and Boy George enjoyed the skipping ropes(especiallly the ones with pink handles) down at his dad`s gym.

Anyway where has Judorick gone?

I don't know much about 718, an unusual gentleman in that he joined Betfair at the peak of the EEA/North America financial crisis, but the above comment puts him imv in the pantheon of betfair colossi with treble, crisp77 and DwD. I've seen some funny things on this forum over the years but Boy George being the Northern Irish amateur boxing champ has to be up there!

Also laughing at Makybe's dad who's now gone to bed wondering why his son is asking strange questions about Boy George at gone midnight!

A classic 'roid rage outburst from Judorick, from nowhere he just lashes out in an uncontrollable manner because someone dared disagree with him Laugh

What a kn0bber.

I can confirm that Boy George has a strong clinch technique.  He grabbed me once for a slow set and I only just managed to wriggle away.  Big unit and a long reach.

Not since its contentious Chinese ban has Google suffered such an ignominious defeat.  Mr Makybe, although semi-comatose, instantly recalled Boy George's aptitude in the ring, yet the overrated internet giant has nary a mention of the androgynous bruiser's pugilistic prowess.

I shall ask Jeeves in future.

Yes, it's very strange, because I definitely remember hearing Boy George talk about doing some boxing. I was a big fan back in the day and saw lots of his interviews.

Perhaps he did some boxing in his previous career as a dress maker.

He was known as the cardboard kid, worked in a big unit and was handy with when `delivering a solid parcel`

I've read both of his autobiographies and there is no mention of him doing any boxing, although he does mention his brother

When will Judo be returning to the thread to apologise for his outburst?

Stating to think that Makybe Diva might well be a personna of Ricks.  No way any outwardly nice, pleasant person which 'she' comes across as, could tolerate and excuse his regular bad behaiour.

rick wont be back for a while as he had a max bet win on Strictly Come Dancing. He has now had 4 out of 4 max bet wins on the specials this year, he certainly knows his stuff.

I think this has the makings of a reality TV hit. Mincers versus dribblers with Ant N' Dec. Coming up next; Wayne Rooney takes on Marc Almond to go in to a title eliminator against the winner of the John Terry versus Limahl grudge match.

I like your thinking HRH

Graham Norton versus Vitaly Klitschko would be a rivetting contest
