Obviously I don't include the likes of WWE in the above...it isn't a sport and every match is ****.

His missus is quoted as saying. when we do it doggie style, he will only take the pink and leave the brown if I bung him.

The lad deserves a break. He needed money for food.

Fixing any match is disgraceful, but to throw a match in the world championship that you have a good chance of winning is completely beyond the pale.

If he values a few quid higher than the title of World Snooker Champion, then he has no place in the sport anyway.

In one case the person collected the successful bet and placed the half of the winnings into Lee's wife's bank account.

The bets were placed by three groups of people. The first were organised by his then sponsor who opened multiple betting accounts with various associates. These accounts were used to place the bets. The second group were coordinated by his then manager who placed almost identical bets. The third was an individual known to Lee who placed the same bets independently of the other two groups.

His sponsor, his manager and another ffs what thick coonts as if they really thought they could pull it off. Fat chance.

Surely there's a business opportunity here for horse-racing types (acknowledged masters of their craft) to set themselves up as Professional Fixing Advisers to second-rate sportsmen?

I've often lay in bed wondering how easy/difficult it'd be to fix a match and I've come to the conclusion it wouldn't be too easy. I know it sounds like I'm an after timer cos of Stephen Lee, but your reward for fixing the match would have to be completely untraceable which is almost impossible. And you couldn't trust anyone these days.

The WPBSA’s case was that in advance of seven matches at the Malta Cup 2008, the UK Championships
2008, the China Open 2009 and the World Championships 2009, Mr Lee gave inside information to
various associates, who then bet on the basis of it and also passed it to others in their group to do the
same. The matches are:
21.1 Match 1, Malta Cup 2008 (a round robin non ranking tournament), 4 February 2008, Lee v Neil
Robertson, Lee lost 1-5.
21.2 Match 2, Malta Cup 2008, 5 February 2008, Lee v Ken Doherty, Lee lost 2-4.
21.3 Match 3, Malta Cup 2008, 7 February 2008, Lee v Marco Fu, Lee lost 1-5.
21.4 Match 4 is no longer relied upon by the WPBSA as a fixed match. It was at the Malta Cup 2008,
Lee v Jo Swail, Lee won.
21.5 Match 5, UK Championships 2008 (a ranking knock out tournament), 13-14 December 2008, Lee
v Stephen Hendry, Lee won 9-7 but lost the first frame.
21.6 Match 6, UK Championships 2008, 15-16 December 2008, Lee v Mark King, Lee won 9-5 but lost
the first frame.
21.7 Match 7, China Open 2009 (a ranking knock out tournament), 1 April 2009, Lee v Mark Selby, Lee
lost 1-5.
21.8 Match 8, World Championships (a ranking knock out tournament), 22 April 2009, Lee v Ryan Day,
Lee lost 10-4

Imagine the conversations with his kids in 5-10 years time:

He's going to spend the rest of his life cringing.

2008 Malta Cup: Conspired to lose to Ken Doherty and Marco Fu, while conspired to lose to Neil Robertson by a pre-determined score, with the match ending 5-1 to Robertson.

2008 UK Championship: Agreed to lose the first frame in matches against Stephen Hendry and Mark King.

2009 China Open: To lose to Mark Selby by a set score, Selby winning 5-1.

2009 World Championship: That Ryan Day would win by a pre-arranged score, Day winning 10-4.

And half the winnings ended up in Stephen Lee`s wifes bank account. He has been a Doh Peek Hunt alright.

They were up about 100k i believe on the bets.

Losing the first frame is an old favourite of the fixers; it's been going on for donkey's years.  I fondly recall two professional players both trying to lose the opener during a Tolly Cobbold Classic in 1983.  How we all laughed.

I just about remember the match Silvino Franciasco fixed a good few years ago. They tried to place bets in my local bookmakers which is in Ireland but they were not taken. From what I remember the fix was for a 5-0 scoreline but the guy Fransciso was playing was so poor it stuck out a mile. Not sure how you would hope to get away with a fix in this day and age when there is so much traceability.

Didn`t Mark King have gambling problems in 2008? it must have been tempting for him to get involved but fair play to him if he turned it all down. By all accounts he was approached by shady characters.

I'd be almost certain that when Davis and Hendry were in their pomp and used to go clear on telly matches, they were asked to ease up a bit as they would finish too early. Not bent then but just making it appear more competitive.

One thing that stands out here is:

He had got to the point where he would struggle to beat anyone and the betting was guaranteed turnover. The Malt Cup is shyte money and he was unlikely to win the other matches as he was a sweaty bottler.

Well i can't claim to follow snooker that keenly but he was a top 16 player wasn't he and his wiki page says he's made over £2m in prize money so quite why he needed to do this to make himself a comparatively tiny sum is a bit odd.

There aren't that many big tournaments in a snooker season though & when you think the World Championship only pays 250k to the winner it's bits & bobs a player like him makes unless he gets lucky

Ronnies a superb snooker player but lets face it a bit of a ****.Says he wants to keep a low profile but has to make comments like this to grab attention.imo he will have no more idea than anyone else who has been at it,but now hes been told to name names will be clueless.

I don't know about you guys but I like characters. If they create controversy that's great with me! Mark Allen is currently my favourite player cos he speaks his mind and has actually got something about him, unlike a lot of other dull players.

I want players to be aware that the audience has payed to see them so give them some kinda entertainment. Smile ffs at least!!!
