right I wont pretend its a mate or owt like that its me that done it
I damaged my exs carand she reported it to police, so I gets a conditional caution. the condition is I pay for the repairs which she presented a detailed quote to the police. now I have since found out she not only has not had the repairs done but has also bought a brand new motor !!!  now obviously I like to know if I have grounds for not paying it as its a condition and not a fine ... ??
Report Shenanigans June 21, 2013 8:26 PM BST
Ask for receipt of repair. And don't smash up your ex-girlfiends' cars any more.
Report Pandorica June 21, 2013 8:28 PM BST
Just pay up and act your age next time.
Report tictacman1 June 21, 2013 8:31 PM BST
The new car is none of your business and your paying for the repairs of damaged vehicle.
pay up and be lucky you didnt get charged for criminal damage.

Pay up and try not to behave in peasant like fashion.
Report Shenanigans June 21, 2013 8:33 PM BST
Indeed. You're entitled to a receipt of repair, and should pay accordingly, but you're legally obliged not be a pr!ck who damages other people's property because you're upset.

what a seriously depressing thread this is, seriously

someone asking for help you all start handing out lectures as if you're the moral police, you dont have a clue about the circumstances, his wife cudda been cheating or refuse access to his kids, thrown away his old records etc,

not a law expert mate, but if the repairs have been done like you say, then there is nothing to pay for - either way CBA - the citizens advice bureau should put you in the picture

Would I walk away...yes I would. I'm not a troglodyte, smashing up her car because the relationship was deceitful is very primitive behaviour to put it mildly.

I was close to doing the bloke but tbh honest he probs didn't know anything about me and what situation she was in to be fair as knowing her she wouldn't have told him so id be taking it out on the wrong person , and the reason I attacked the car as some would think it being a cowards way of doing things is cos I just could not bring myself to lay a finger on a woman  !!!!

Yes, quite so.  When one is simply not socially permitted to hit another one in the face, or to do damage to their reputation socially, it has been - and always will be - a long accepted rule that you should damage his physical property.

Ffs - who is using this forum these days?!

Let me get this straight, because I do think im talking to a load of privately schooled middle class fellas living in little suburban white villages miles from reality

You find someone you were just about to move in with, someone you sold your house to be with, someone you probably just about to marry and have kids with - has been sleeping around, and then you expect him to walk away as if nothing has happened and say ah well,

There is no dignity in being in soft, personally I'd had set up a video camera in the bedroom, go out to work all day, he'll come round, then later on put the video online

Well, academically, there is nothing on my CV to shout about, like most though, have got through life being streetwise and being blessed with some things books can't teach, common sense, being condescending may make you feel better, but it doesn't make you look better, I don't pretend to be something I'm not, but what an opinion on an affair has to do with literacy I don't know, for the record it's all about pride, not being an Neanderthal, so like I say I wasn't advocating violence but if you let everyone walk over you, you deserve to be walked over.

Now if you don't mind, you're keeping me from my Beano comic.
