But Every Pizza shop & Chinese takeaway have their lights & cookers buzzing away all night long !

There must be 10 Chippies within a mile or 2 radius & they all close .. yet the rest will open all hours Plain

Why ?

In the old days fishermen didnt got out on a saturday night i think.  Though i guess most of it is frozen now so it is slightly epidemic.

Nearest fish and chip is 2 miles away, they charge £12 to sit down for haddock and chips, I think you get some peas as well though having said that. I don't bother much with take away food, maybe a Thai every now and then but they charge West End prices as well.

Erm, no idea Mc M. I don't really drink much milk just a tiny drop in my tea. It's about a pound or so but not sure about that. To be fair the chippie has won awards for best shop in London but it's a bit fierce to charge so much if you ask me.

In London at least, traditionally it is Monday night they do not open, because Billingsgate fish market did not open on Sundays.

It used to be unlawful to sell fish & chips on a sunday, so they all shut, One shop near me got round this in the 70s by selling fish & potato croquettes.

Yep i was joking , but i guess you pay top dollar for everything living in a nice part of London , but no doubt they're nice

That's the beauty of living in the midlands i guess , there's a Chip shop around every other corner   Wink

in london it used to be a roast dinner on a sunday afternoon and shell fish on the nightime and for a monday it used to be the left overs from the cold meat joint with egg and chips had that for my first 20yrs on this world

is it actually against the law for them to open then ?

I just find it strange & very old fashioned when every other takeaway & pizza shop is open , McDonalds & KFC open 24 hours yet nobody can sell me a nice portion of chips Sad

I used to like the bloke coming around the pubs with a fish tray. Jellied eels, cockles, whelks, buttered prawns.

Could be something to do with maximum opening hours. Maybe fish and chips sells better during the day as people cant be @rsed to go out for it on a Sunday evening. Much easier to get a delivery. So if they open at midday for the afternoon trade, they have to shut at 6pm.

You say that, Moonbeam, but I bet you do buy a McDonalds again.

Hey, a drive through! At least there's less chance of you getting into fight that way, not having to get out the car Happy
