A facebook contact posted this - I censored one word to hopefully get it past the smut filter

"Went to job centre to sign on only to be greeted by the "computer says no woman" oh sorry you can't talk to me...you should of seen an advisor. ..no I was told you'd help me.....no sorry come back in two weeks....ffs I just want to work or retrain....no wonder this country is in the mess that it is! F***tards!! That is all....come bsck tomorrow for the daily rant!"

Now the woman who posted this is 35. She'll want a ''decent' job, stacking shelves etc would be way beneath her. She has an unusual name, so any prospective employer worth their salt would have a look on FB for her I would imagine. To find she sulks, rants, cant spell, doesn't know the difference between 'have' and 'of'.
Am I too fussy, or does this annoy others too, should I accept that the average person these days is a ranting illiterate?

Speaking to the younger generation regarding grammar, you`d think you were explaining Latin.

Nope Harry, perfectly entitled to see her as the uncouth, illiterate, delusions-of-grandeur semi-chav that she is.

I love the hiring process as I get to immediately get rid of anyone who doesn't know how to use basic punctuation or the difference between have and of, or there and their, etc - the peons!

Get your homophones correct people! It really is simple - the basics of human communication. One of the first things most of us learn as a child.

If you can't do it, then your parents and teachers were thick as pig sht. Now it is up to you, go and educate yourself, and stop embarrassing yourself in the company of your peers.

Hmmmm, Harry,. So would you class yourself as an average person? You seem to have mastered the ranting aspect and your punctuation seems to display the necessary attributes! CoolCoolLaugh

Just kidding. Happy I hope to God that I've spelt this right. LaughLaugh

Actually either spelt or spelled are considered acceptable by no less a publication than the OED.

Ranting is an art form in itself. It's quite cathartic too. A salaried ranter would be my dream ticket.

'I just want to work or retrain'

That gets her a plus point or two, as does her unwillingness to put up with being d-icked about by process-obsessed imbeciles that appear to have got it wrong on this occasion.

So glad to see it wasn't just me being a bit fussy.
And Squeezefirmly - "Sarfend pier" - damn fine guess, she lives in that fine town.

Thought when I read the thread title that this thread would be about Stella English (the woman that tried to sue Sugar).

I am building the gallows now for the people who refuse to learn about 'of/have'
Report desperatemunter April 15, 2013 4:28 PM BST
I want to know about that Stella English woman - she's either a contmptible chancer who deserves ruination or she's the victim of a practised exploiter and liar : and who would be even more deserving of public humiliation.    Do we have a thread on her ? I couldn't see one.
Report desperatemunter April 15, 2013 4:30 PM BST
I watched some of the episodes with her in : it never made any sense that she had given up an £80k job - just to go in a game show with a load of nobs, and with a prize that is questionable - 'working for Alan Sugar' - to say the least
Report Ramruma April 15, 2013 5:02 PM BST
Stella and Lord Sugar -- I think she thought it did what it said on the tin, and she'd get a year's business masterclass from Lord Sugar.

As it turned out, she'd given up an £80k job but the prize was a £40k job with a £100k salary.
Report desperatemunter April 15, 2013 5:08 PM BST
if she thought it did what it said on the tin then I'm sympathetic to her plight.  All that filth Sugar said about her - shame on him.      Far from the first time either : I remember in years past more than one winner has been very dissatisfied with their prize.    Get the impression Sugar has no interest at all once the show is over.
