Her greatest achievement was setting people more free to make of themselves what they could. Some succeeded. Others failed. That was tough to take for some and that's fair enough. Only the failures who are bitter will actually celebrate her passing.
the irony is that she destroyed hundreds of solid communities with traditions and moral compass to destroy the unions and allow fat cats to take control, and now those broken communities have morphed into the feckless underclass so hated by Tories today
well done indeed! way to take hard working people making stuff and turn them into people you hate even more than trade unionism

how about acting like a gentleman then. You don't agree with her policies, you have every right not to but to wish her dead doesn't reflect well on you or anyone else wishing the same.

^^^ you seriously have to worry about people who write this stuff and I wasn't her biggest supporter. The internet has shown how many truly sad individuals there are out there.

In fairness she did give council tenants the right to buy their house and they are still paying the mortgage yet. The majority are struggling to pay it because they are working for minimum wage. They would strike for a better wage but can`t because they won`t be able to pay mortgage if they do and the bank (who actually own the home) will put them out on the street. If this happens the council can`t rehome them because there are not so many council houses now. Council were thinking of building some more houses but can`t find any UK bricklayers.

the classic Tory part of the 'Right to Buy' was that not only could people buy houses at huge discounts, the Councils and Housing Associations were expressly forbidden from using the proceeds of the sales to invest in new housing stock
insane ideological BS as usual from the Tories. Call Me Dave and Gideon are proposing to bring this policy back whilst at the same time inflating the housing market by giving 20% deposits to people who have 5% saved.. in a housing shortage crisis
you couldn't make it up

Add to this that these were otherwise unsellable properties, so could only really go to those living in them, then later be sold to potential landlords (or personal buddies).

David Cameron has just sent his official letter to the Thatcher residence.
It starts "I regret to inform you that due to recent events you now have too many bedrooms..."

The failure to invest in new council houses was a big mistake but huge numbers of people benefitted from the cheap sell off.
Most if not all have paid their (very small) mortgages off by now and are enjoying a rent free retirement whilst sitting in houses worth 10x what they paid.
The deregulation of lending/borrowing showed too much faith in the financial sector and the public. It was a mistake but her supporters will argue the 100s of billions of taxation that came from that boom paid for the public sector we have now.

Now we will have to endure weeks of all the weasels coming out of the woodwork to lavish her with praise.
Now there will be an inevitable lift in Tory support, as the media rally round the flag giving valuable airtime to Tory after Tory (or New Lab) who will drone on about all the ´wonderful´things she did for the country, while conveniently overlooking the destruction she caused.
Now there will likely be a state funeral, unseen since another Tory baztard, Churchill snuffed it.
Now, the media will conveniently choose to ignore the devastating effects of the government´s cuts.
Personally, there is nothing to celebrate in the death of an 87-year-old, piss ridden, Alzheimer suffering geriatric irrelevance. Now if she had snuffed it 30 years ago... now that would have been a party!
