Had to google that Foxy. Can't remember them, might have been a regional thing.
Look real cumbersome. |

reminded me of the AA bikes in the late 50s/early 60s.
My Dad was a member with the badge on the frint of the car. Remember the bikers saluting when they saw the badge. |
|
By:
I think it was a London expression aka, nowadays the AA man is more likely to give the one fingered salute!.

i used to go in a pub where the landlord was telling everyone about his personalised plate ' bwc' , which bore no resemblance to his name . ...' beer, wine , crisps ' he pointed out ...

Saw this in either Stirling or Perth. C31TIC or similar.
Good plate if yer a fan but must make the car a target for the nutters. |

By:
People who buy them are F345 PRX
|
|
By:
They won't seem a very good investment when we're all using driverless cars.
|
|
By:
will driverless cars not require a number plate?
|

By:
bloke used to drive a top of the range soft top beamer around nottingham in the 90s-U PR1X-he lost the car and the plate in a game of backgammon, made me smile.

There should only be one private plate available, and that's 1MA PR1K.

When the transport revolution comes in there will be little point in owning a vehicle so no point in owning such a plate. |

There is a dizzy blonde housewife driving a Range Rover who live in my town with the plate 'ORGA5M'. Why, oh why??

Forum names in caps are similarly dubious imo.

I once saw a black beemer coming out of a Golf course in Surrey ...CUE 8OY
I wonder who owns that ? |
|
By:
Quite happy to admit that I've had two of them.
The first one on my RX8, simply because adding a GB massive plate, into the otherwise stylish grille, would have totally ruined the look of it (they don't show hideous number plates in promotional brochures)! I bought A17 RXB which read as AN RX8.... Cost £250.00 and got this back as additional to the sale price. Second one T16 MPS for my Mazda 6 MPS. This read as Ti6 MPS (Turbo injection 6 MPS). Cost £250.00 but bought back, for £350.00, by the main dealer for his own car. My biggest regret was not buying another one, again for £250.00, as an investment! MY 51 RON.....MY 5 IRON....Just another RON plate, but significant for golfers, and not picked up by DVLA.... Needless to say, that when I made the decision to buy it, just a few days later, it was gone! |
|
By:
Of course, I just realised that this is an ancient thread, on which I will have commented before!
The other issue with the RX8, was that it was far from ideal to restrict cooling air to the radiator! |

Show your vehicle reg number, and I will use my psychic powers to tell you what you drive.....

I can do that, too, Aunty

Perhaps we should keep this to ourselves now!
Interestingly, my e-type is still showing as black, but was completely de-trimmedand re-finished in red, shortly after delivery! Surprising that, over the years, this hasn't been picked up at some point! |
|
By:
You would have thought so, Aunty.

I know a chap who has a personalised number plate which was a 21st birthday gift from his parents. He hates it. "As soon as dad dies, it's coming off." |

That sounds like motive to me Ramruma.
