The first time “Google” was used as a verb on TV was on the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
In an episode from October of 2002, Willow asks Buffy “Have you Googled her yet?,” to which Xander replies “She’s 17!” - and Willow then has to clarify that Google is, in fact, a search engine. . https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2014/06/the-first-use-of-the-verb-to-google-on-television-buffy-the-vampire-slayer/373599/ |

Your brain starts slowing down when you’re 24.
This is when the reaction time of people playing video games shows the first sign of decline. You’re not getting dumber, though, because your brain then begins to compensate by relying on experience and mental shortcuts- so your thought process actually becomes more efficient. . https://curiosity.com/topics/brains-begin-to-slow-down-at-age-24-curiosity/ |

If someone is attractive and charming, you’re more likely to assume they’re intelligent and hard-working- even if they’re not.
Known as the ‘Halo Effect’, it’s a theory that our generalized judgements of people can bleed over into the more specific judgements we make about them. Studies show that even though we understand the Halo Effect intellectually, it’s almost impossible for us to recognize when it’s actually happening. . https://www.spring.org.uk/2007/10/halo-effect-when-your-own-mind-is.php |

Brighton and Hove Albion
The Seagulls were the only professional team in Sussex from 1920 to 2011 until Crawley Town were promoted to the Football League. The club was founded on 24 June 1901 at the Seven Stars public house in Ship Street, Brighton. Until 1998 it was believed that the Albion were formed in 1900 but this was in fact when Brighton and Hove Rangers were founded. Albion survived an EGM to have them expelled from the Football League in July 1997 just two months after saving themselves from being relegated and losing league status. Former chairman Bill Archer failed to provide a £500, 000 performance bond required as a deposit to ensure that Albion would fulfil their fixtures while homeless. When this was not lodged on time the Football League looked to impose the strongest sanction possible. 47 clubs voted to keep Albion in the league with 17 against. The remaining 7 abstained. Oldham Athletic were the most vocal of those against. Goalkeeper John Keeley once had to be fetched from the Stadium Pub in Hove – almost a mile from the Goldstone – to play a league match. Keeley was just recovering from injury at the time but replacement keeper Perry Digweed had not reported for duty by 2.15pm. It later transpired that Digweed was stuck in traffic on the A23 and Keeley played in a draw after allegedly having downed a couple of pints. Phil Stant and Russell Osman played for the Albion after being dismissed as managers of Lincoln City and Plymouth Argyle respectively. |

West Ham United are one of only eight clubs in existence never to have fallen below the second tier of English football, along with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Everton, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Hammers featured in the first-ever FA Cup Final to be played at Wembley, but they were beaten 2-0 by Bolton Wanderers. West Ham United was the first-ever winners of the Football League War Cup. The competition was in place of the FA Cup that was cancelled during the Second World War. The Hammers beat Blackburn Rovers in the final. The club was originally formed in 1895 as Thames Ironworks, but after disbanding in June 1900 they were almost immediately reformed as West Ham United in July 1900. Former striker Brian Dear holds the joint-record for the quickest time to score five goals in an English game. Dear scored all five in 20 minutes either side of half-time in a game against West Brom in 1965. |

Watford Football Club played in the Southern League from 1896 to 1920 before becoming a member of the Football League. They didn’t reach the first division until 1982 for the first time. The best-accomplished result in the top league is a second place in 1983. In the FA Cup, they have as best been runner-up (1984 and 2019).
The club was founded in 1881 as Watford Rovers. It later changed the name to West Hertfordshire in 1893 and finally to just Watford in 1898. In 1920, they did the first season as a member of the Football League and started in the newly established third division. The fans had to wait until 1968 for a promotion to the Second Division. And in 1982, Watford did for the first time join the top flight after finishing second in the Second Division. They make their Premier League debut in 1999 but were relegated the same season. Watford played in blue and white until 1959 where it changed to gold shirts and black shorts. In 1976, a splash of red was introduced and the shirt was changed to yellow which has continued until the present day. Watford enters the pitch to the theme tune of Z-Cars from the popular police show 'Z-Cars'. This was manager Bill McGarry's favourite television programme. Everton also enter the pitch to this theme tune, dubbing our matches with them 'the Z-Cars derby'. |

Formed in 1902, Norwich City were founded in a café in the city and entered the amateur game, playing their first match against Harwich & Parkeston at their first ground Newmarket Road on September 2nd 1902.
Although known to have been formed in 1902, following the First World War between 1914 and 1918, football in England was suspended leaving Norwich in massive debts. In 1917 the club went into voluntary liquidation, before being re-formed in 1919 after the great war ended. Norwich has been frequent throughout popular culture, with the city and the club receiving a lot of attention. The hugely popular Mike Bassett: England Manager film saw the fictional coach given the England job as a result of his success with the Canaries. But perhaps the most famous face to come out of the city belongs to another man, again fictional, in the form of Alan Partridge. However, we believe that Alan is more interested in the pedestrianisation of Nowrich City centre and allowing access to Dixon’s than the going’s on at Carrow Road, a-ha! The club's widest margin of victory in the League was their 10–2 win against Coventry City in Division Three (South) in 1930. Norfolk is world-famed for its canaries - thus the club's nickname. Let’s be having you! It doesn’t matter who you support or what generation of footballers you grew up with. Delia Smith’s harrowing cry in 2005 to the Norwich City fans at half-time during her stint as a director has gone down forever as one of the greatest Premier League moments. The TV chef was seething and went on a rant at the Norwich supporters when the match was tied at 2-2 against Manchester City. It did end up blowing back in her face, Norwich lost the game thanks to a 90th minute Robbie Fowler goal, and they were relegated from the division soon after. |

‘Devil’s advocate’ was a real job until 1983.
Any time the Catholic church wanted to canonize a saint, an official acted as the devil’s advocate by questioning the candidate’s saintliness and arguing against their supposed miracles. If the potential saint could hold up to the intense criticism, the church knew they officially deserved the title. . https://www.npr.org/2013/03/03/173350724/who-is-the-devils-advocate |
