So Immediately you get the check, you must go to your bank and pay in the cheque and let the money be in your account. After the release of the money in your account then you will release the vehicle. I will now instruct my shipping company to come to you and have the vehicle shipped to me.I would also tell you that I have the money for shipping in the cheque that will I send to you so that you can pay they when they come to pick up the vehicle, I hope you clearly understand. I repeat You will not release the vehicle until the money is credited to your account. I will await your reply. Thanks

The moment where he'll realise that he has 'accidentally' deposited too much and can you send the difference back via WU. After that the 'cleared' funds will disappear from your account (hopefully having parted you with car, shipping cost and cash for 'change').

I'm glad you asked that question Rob because I was thinking the same think too but was too afraid to ask in case I was just being really ignorant and money that's not cleared can somehow just show up and then disappear.

If I wanted to know the answer to that question I would ring my bank and ask them. It is not difficult. I must confess that I don't know, luckily I don't need to. I suspect, though, that it an event that occurs if the deposit is 'unexpectedly' removed from the distant account.

You could have some fun with his 'shipping company'...which I'm guessing might just be him. Give them a drawing of a car. Or a matchbox car. Or drive them, in the car, to a bank to see if the money's cleared. Do it!

For some reason even though the cheque is cleared in your bank, in some countries it can still be cancelled as they have different rules. Not sure of the countries but I heard of this about 15 years ago

1. FOR SELLERS! - ADVISE CLEARING TAKES 21-28 DAYS THEN POST. THIS IS BECAUSE THE BANK WILL CLEAR THE CHEQUE IN 4 DAYS BUT REVERSE THE PAYMENT AFTER 16 DAYS IF THE CHEQUE BOUNCES . THEREFORE 28 DAYS IS SAFEST CLEARING PERIOD FOR A CHEQUE. IF THE BUYER WANTS TO GO FAST ASK THEM TO SEND CASH SPECIAL REGISTERED POST! - BANK DRAFTS AND CHEQUES ARE ALWAYS FAKES WHEN A SCAM! I DONT TRUST DRAFTS ANYMORE - EVEN THE BANK WONT NOTICE TILL A FEW DAYS LATER THEN YOUR IN TROUBLE - MONEY GETS REVERSED.
Somebody have put warning on an e-bay review about this type of scam. http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/CHEQUE-SCAMS-PAYMENTS-SAFETY-ADVICE?ugid=100000000009852441. FOR SELLERS! - ADVISE CLEARING TAKES 21-28 DAYS THEN POST. THIS IS BECAUSE THE BANK WILL CLEA

Frankly I'm afraid to say that some people deserve to be scammed by their obvious stupidity.
The one that you are playing with has been around for years and you don't need to be a genius to see that it is dodgy.
The other one that has been around for ages is the person selling a car at a ridiculously low price which invariably is £4,000 and that is always for a high end spec model.
Read the illiteracy of this C&P from another forum and you will see why he was duped.......

I HAVE JUST BEEN INVOLED OF PART OF A SCAM BY A MR JAMES BURT FROM CADIZ IN SPAIN.
I LAID OUT A SUM OF £3000 GBP AS A PART DEPOSIT FOR A NISSIAN NARVARA AN I NEVER RECIEVED THE VEHICLE. I DONE ALL THE APR AN HPI CHECKS AN ALL CAME BACK GOOD. IV LOST THE £3000 GBP AS MY BANK OR YAHOO WILL NOT TRACE THE MATTER. POLICE GOT INVOLED TODAY AN WILL HOPEFULLY SORT THIS MATTER OUT. DONT TRUST NO AUTOTRADER ADS WITH AN EMAIL ADDRESS AS IV LEARNT ABOUT IT.
IF ANY1 COULD HELP ME OUT ABOUT RECLAIMING MY MONEY BACK IT WOULD BE GREATFULL.
REGARDS MR CROALL.
What a total idiot, though that is what the scammer is looking for, and there are obviously plenty of suckers!
What does seriously gall is that "Autotrader" must know about it as many will have complained.
Just like BT, letting people be ripped off with premium rate call costs, they do nothing as all they want is revenue!
Here is the link to the forum on the subject..... . http://www.fraudwatchers.org/forums/showthread.php?p=105078
Somewhere in amongst all that, is a hilarious situation where a "buyer" is winding the scammer up, by sending e-mail after e-mail asking for confirmation that the car has never been used to keep chickens in and loads of other stuff too!

I dont agree that some people deserve to be scammed. There should be rules and laws to make sure this stuff doesnt happen. Quite often the victims of those premium rate, youve won a million quid etc scams are old people who grew up in an age where youjust trusted official looking letters etc. quite often the victims are just plain low IQ unquestioning people, doesnt mean they deserve to be scammed, we should protect these people.

Yeah rob_dylan, of course you are correct and I was a bit harsh I guess.
Seeing that we all live in the same society, and are vulnerable to all of this nonsense, I have to ask why some MP/s have not taken this on board as it all needs to be stamped out somehow!
I am so pi$$ed off with it that I never answer my home phone, where at least 90% of calls are scammers.
If it's someone who knows me they all have my mobile number anyway.
After the call I always check the number and if it isn't 0800 I Google to see who it is.

In my naivety I got kind of scammed in Faro. Queueing up for the flight home, someone offers us 400 euros each to not get the flight, easyjet had overbooked presumably. We were put up in a hotel and given food and that, and got a flight the next day and were told it was just a matter of going online, ticking a few boxes and eight hundred euros were on their way. I wish, was a total scam, were lied to all the way(the details I wont go into) And this was by a massive company. Still infuriates me to this day, and may yet get the money back(minus considerable legal costs) but why should I have to wait two and a half years for money I was promised, just shows that some unscrupulous companies can do what they want and seemingly the law doesnt stop them. This stinks, and since people have said "oh you mug, of course they werent gonna pay you" but how would you know? There are bigger injustices in the world for sure, but amazes me that in the 21st century that people can get away with this in westernised countries. I even emailed the coont who was in charge of easyjet, she used to be top dog at the guardian newspaper group.
Sorry to rant, just seen the observer banging on about tax avoidance companies again, the bloody guardian media group dodged 200million quid of tax themselves ffs.

it's understandable that you got taken in by that scam.
it's common practice for airlines to do this. i've allowed myself to be "bought off" a couple of times by ba, and spent a very nice time in top quality hotels abroad [all paid for] and a nice few quid [up front for "exes".
gotta say that was a few years ago though.

I think we live in a society in which those getting into debt are so protected by the law, many, many people abuse the system, so that the only way companies can operate profitably is by screwing the honest people.
