Enjoyed tonight's episode - clever observations. Not everyone's cup of tea but nothing ever is.

I only watched the end. I could only say it's very moving. The points made might be obvious and even clumsy, but is anyone else making them?

The ending made little sense to me - Karl (and I won't use his character name because he is basically playing himself with daft hair) wasn't party to the original conversation about the ring, he wasn't in the room when it was given to the other guy, but yet he steams in morally outraged.  Seemed a rushed, cobbled together scene that, poorly done.

Karls end scene was great and he knew what the daughter was like from earlier in the episode or were you watching you sky+ of Eastenders?

Derek is a very good programme. Many layers.

I watched this earlier and the presence of that bloke on the special brew still irritates me, unnecessary and unrealistic imo.  The whole thing is over exagerrated, , which is fair enough if it is just a comedy(what sitcom isnt exagerrated (sp?))  but if it is trying to make a serious point it loses credibility the more ridiculous it becomes.  That horrible daughter well surely there are people like her, but theyve taken the most extreme example also, actually some people do hate their parents for a reason, despite how innocent and vulnerable they may look in old age. Has some poignant moments for sure.  I like the karl character.

You might be right rob - my sister says she spent many a night siting with distressed residents who were either ill or dying. To her the job was a vocation and that comes across with the manager.

there is such a thing as artistic licence rob. Don't let that detract from the 'message' being put across by this excellent series.

There is a limit to artistic licence facts.  Like when the point being tried to be made loses its beleivability thanks to the frankly ridiculous environment they create to put across their message, a bit like that strawman argument thing.  I suppose I enjoyed it and will continue to watch it, but it aint t that good, and I feel Gervais has partly squandered a good opportunity by including this character.  The gurning derek isnt that good either.  In fact none of it is that good or polished except the general sentiment.

Yes, all that swearing in an old folks home just wouldn't be allowed.
