too many to list, ive been going to gigs since 1972, seen virtually all the great rock bands.Used to follow Wishbone Ash in the Argus era and saw them loads of times.
Loudest Gig - Emerson Lake & Palmer ( Leeds Town Hall ) / AC/DC ( Leeds Queens Hall ) Best Guiterist - Bill Nelson , Be Bop Deluxe Best Voice - Mark Lanegan Nowadays i tend to give the big stadiums a miss but saw Pearl Jam at manc arena a few months ago, i,ll stick to the last 12 month or at the most 18 month. Off top of me head then in no order in mainly small venues in the Leeds/York area Django Django We Are Augustines Clinic The Civil Wars Eels The Wedding Present Half Man Half Biscuit Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros Eagles Of Death Metal Julian Cope The Urban Voodoo Machine The Jim Jones Review Tom MacRae The Vaccines Echo & The Bunnymen Justin Earle ( steve,s son ) Scrutti Politti Explosions In The Sky Mark Lanegan Fanfarlo Hugh Cornwell The Duke Spirit British Sea Power Band Of Horses Warpaint You cant beat live music !! |

RLKP - What did you think of PJ in Manchester? Did you go both nights?
By:
no mate i went 2nd night with a mate whose a big PJ fan, ive only got the Ten album so really only knew Alive and Evenflow but got to admit they were good, they didnt play Jeremy that night. Come away though with a new PJ fav track - Better Man, what a song that is ...was gonna see Rush at sheff but 65 quid a ticket, they are one of the best stadium bands ive seen but 130 quid for 2 , its taking the mick.

Good to see a few Carter fans in the house, I thought it was just me.
I've got very vague memories of seeing The Sugarcubes, I was quite tired and emotional at the time but I was there, might have been the Dominion, Tottenham Court Road but not completely certain about the venue. |

Only e*er seen one,i went to see The Japan Cup a while back and The Nolans were playing after Racing,i thought they were good.

Glad you enjoyed it. It was almost a two part performance, with very few songs being played both nights. I went to both, stayed in the pub after the second gig til' gone 2, then woke up the next morning with a storming hangover and had to contemplate getting to the Isle Of Wight to see them again the next day. Better Man is indeed magnificent.

Good ones, in more or less chronological order:
Groundhogs Rory Gallagher Flamin Groovies The Who Eddie and the Hot Rods, loads of time. Kursall Flyers, loads. Squeeze Elvis Costello Sex Pistols Ramones Talking Heads The Cure Patti Smith The Jam Sham 69 Madness Pere Ubu Human League Gang of Four The Mekons Delta Five The Raincoats Scritti Politi Bob Marley & The Wailers Barrington Levy Gregory Isaacs Bruce Springsteen Echo and the Bunnymen Stereolab Mogwai Sufjan Stevens Dirty Three Ann Peebles Low Gillian Welch Electrelane Amiina Warm Digits Biggest disappointments: The Clash The Stranglers I saw Uriah Heep, parachute. Rubbish and left early. |

just played it on you tube with the lyrics - wow that song sends shivers...

Yeah one of their very best. Corduroy also brilliant off the same album, if maybe not as instantly able to stop you in your tracks.

Heather (now left) or Anne Marie or Olivia?
By:
Olivia
By:
Last time I saw them, she was a striking looking support vocalist for Heather, but had an excellent voice. Not bad in those long boots either!
By:
Ann Marie has her own band called Panic Room.
By:
My mate's band played with them & sent me a video of them but Olivia sang not on backing?
By:
Yes, she took over from Heather Findlay after she left to have a baby. Couple of years ago now.

Good stuff dizzy. How was it to work with The Smiths? I see Johnny Marr is touring his solo album next year. They were fine HRH, apart from a bit of brief small talk with the other three I only really talked much to Mike Joyce the drummer. He was very friendly and even though we played just one gig with them so we only really spent a short time chatting, he remembered me when I met him ten years later in Japan when he was drumming for the Buzzcocks, and gave me and my mates the full guest list/dressing room access thing. I found him to be a decent bloke, not up his own a**e and believing his own hype like so many others who have a hit or three. |
