Just been and got mine from Holland & Barrett.
They do 100gm bags with buy one, get one half price (£3.28 for two). If you get ten bags it works out to the same as buying 1kg on the net plus postage. Just had some with my cereal. Doesn't look very pretty and I'm still licking them off my teeth and gums. Waiting now for a sudden surge of energy when I hit the gym! |

ordered mine last week, should arrive today..

There are reports that increased flatulence can be a side effect of chia seeds consumption in big quantities. This is probably because of the high fiber content of the seeds. Likewise, people who are allergic to mustard seeds are observed to have negative reactions to the use of chia seeds as well. Likewise, because chia seeds are known as an abundant source of potentially blood-thinning Omega-3, people who are taking aspirins and blood thinners, hemophiliacs, or those who are scheduled to undergo surgical procedures, must refrain from taking chia seeds.
Some experts also advise against the use of chia seeds in large quantities as this may have an addictive effect. And although tests are not made on pregnant women, the use of chia seeds for expectant mothers is highly discouraged as it may result to chia seed side effects either on the mother or the baby, or both. |

does high fibre cause flatulence? i thought fibre on the whole does not do much in the body apart from bulking up stools and keeping the digestive system moving and clean, a bit like a broom..... fermenting things like vegatables, pulses, and suger are the cause of gas from my own experiance....

can you mix it in with Felix?

The seeds I got today are tiny (about the size of poppy seeds) so I can't imagine there can be much fibre there!
Even if the seeds were 100% fibre there would be sod all! |

you would be surprised how little fibre there is some stuff, if you have ever had one of those fibre gel sachet drinks you will see how little fibre you actually need a day. One sachet mixed with water is enough to give you 100% of your daily need, one sachet would be about a teaspoon full. I think it is made from coconut husk or something similar, and like Chia seeds (apparently) , quicky expands and turns into a gel when mixed with water.......

So that being the case, how come people are being encouraged to eat a massive bowl of "All Bran" etc? |

Well Ive been adding them to my morning smoothie for over a week now and can't tell any difference apart from they give me bad wind. If I can source them at the right price I'll keep having them as they are obviously full of goodies.

Sorry that was my earlier post C&Pd.
I meant to say that I haven't found anywhere cheaper. |

Just chomping on my very first chia seeds (on an omelet).
When can expect lift-off? |
|
By:
I've got a massive dish of "Shredded Wheat".
Unfortunately I was too generous with the milk so it's just a soggy mess! I would bin them except I have about 30 grams of "Chia Seeds" on them and they look revolting! Gone now and I won't do that again in a hurry! |

Use the milled seeds when adding to liquids.
|
|

Good idea except they are even more expensive and Holland & Barret don't have them in the shop.
What I will do is mill them myself in future. |

snort em
(dont really) Im still on these but Ive found another top tip, magnesium bath soak......its best absorbed through the skin. Good for the heart and cells |
|
By:
why mill em?
I have them regulally in casine shakes just as they are, find myself in a morning biting the now soft and enlarged seeds between my front teeth (its quite tricky) |
