went to edinburgh today to see my son return home with his battalion 3 rifles ,after a 7 month tour of afghanistan,his second tour.The battalion was also granted the freedom of edinburgh,thus becomlng the first english regiment to bestow this honour,i am 1 mighty relieved and proud dad just a note heartfelt sympathies to the family of lt andrew chesterman who sadly did not return

yes thats the 1 topshot,as for the lad who didnt come home his dad and sisters were present,i couldnt wish that emotion to anyone

As an aside I was in the royal Marines and was honoured to be part of the first non Scottish regiment to do the Edinburgh castle guard

its heartbreaking, topshot we are all happy that our sons returned safe,yet inside my heart weeps for his family.he must have been a top lad only young and already an officer.

I was lucky when I joined up, the world seemed a much safer place than it is now, so I really admire our young men (and girls) who join up knowing they are almost certainly going to war

tell me about it ,this weekend has fell unbelievable,we are from sheffield and i start a new job on monday in glenrothes so i have decided to stay up here instead of going home, rest of my clan gone back home, cant even hit the river ouse with my son tonight gutted really, but just over the moon hes home safe

tell him to stay in m8,the job situation is crap right now and hopefully it will pick up in the next 3 or 4 years.If he wants I have friends who are involved in security companys but he will be back out in Iraq/Afghanistan etc but the moneys good..........

iMO he should stay in for a couple of years and take the easy money he no doubt deserves after doing two tours, if he can hack the boredom

Not a good idea chasing the big bucks abroad, puts the families thru the same. Hell PDC. Has just been thru.
