Brian Hitchen: 'I've known Jimmy Savile was a child abuser for the last 45 years' Andrew Pugh 04 October 2012 Former Sunday Express and Daily Star editor Brian Hitchen today claimed he has known Jimmy Savile abused under-age girls for the past 45 years. Writing in the Daily Express, Hitchen said the only thing that “puzzled” him about the revelations of the last week was “that it took so long for his sexual victims to come out of the woodwork”. Hitchen said he first heard the allegations from the captain of the liner Canberra, who recalled how he had thrown Savile off his ship in Gibraltar after complaints from the parents of a 14-year-old girl who he was harassing. He wrote: So why in all the years that have passed since I was first told did I never write about Savile? Two reasons. In those days newspapers did not write "nasty" stories about celebrities unless the famous had been handsomely paid for their often fairly tame revelations. The second reason is because Britain's libel laws too often help make those like Savile untouchable. The public knew him as a selfless man who raised millions of pounds for Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire. Perhaps they should have wondered why he waited so long for a knighthood. The answer was simple - the Establishment always suspected that he had skeletons in his cupboard. He added: Jimmy Savile was not a nice man. I feel desperately sorry for his victims and for his adoring public who even now will not want to believe the bad stories about their hero. |

Also why didn`t Eshter Ranstzen give him such a glowing tribute when she knew deep down the rumours were probably true.
She should have refused to give any opinion if she only had some doubt he was innocent. |

she was working under the constraints of the bbc this could be classed as bringing the bbc into disrepute in which case she could be sacked by them or worse still she could start telling some home truths in which case the tactics at the highest level of the bbc are discredit and character assasination ie.DAVIC IKE AND MANY OTHERS

She should have refused to give any opinion if she only had some doubt he was innocent. You knew but you didn't do anything about it because you were too concerned about your career of laughing at **** shaped vegetables. Oh, well - that's life. you evil, toothy ****. |

Especially as she is the face/voice of Child line.
She basically admitted that she knew/they all knew about JS. So why did she continue to praise him after his death. |
|
By:
I think she was just protecting her own interests she would have been highly paid woman at that time and if she spoke out she would have lost her job. The bbc have quite strict contractual agreements

Especially with Jimmy a close friend of hers as well.
Child abusers need shopping unless they are personal friends of Esther. |

Nicky Campbell was very discreet on the phone in this morning
He cam into contact with him regularly when he was on radio one and all he will say is that saville seemed to be a very private man |
|
By:
Think this is why esther is doing rounds on every media outlet to condemn it now because she trying to put herself in better light because it doesnt look very good at all on her to almost admit knowing about JS and doing nothing about it given her childline work.

Almost as guilty as sir pedo are former BBC employees who kept a lid on what he was doing, for fear of losing their jobs because of his celebrity and power within the organisation.

The BBC would earn a (very) small iota of my respect if the organisation held its hand up and apologised for what has become a very obvious cover-up. Sadly, there's just too much fear of reprisal borne from arrogance. An apology would at least serve to prevent something similar in future.

just been lookinIt's almost disappeared from the BBC mobile website already. It's been reduced to a mere one line headline ('BBC denies Saville cover-up claims') with no picture. It's well below all the news, sport and upcoming shows though. Hidden because it's not a big deal.

Ah! Just reading about Peter and the siege now. It's all news to me, I'm afraid to say. I have not come across him/it before.
