The idea of honouring the dead where Jimmy is concerned is a tad ironic.  Allegedly.

"......savile like jonothan king was someone who met scores of teenage girls and boys....."

don't think Jonathon was interested in the girls just the boys.

Yes THEY had different tastes but they both like to get out  their 7 inch I think Jimmy was more of a girls aloud  guy  where as jonathon was into the boy zone

the cases seem to me remarkably similar
in the case of jonothan king who btw is bisexual his annonymous accusers who came out of the woodwork years after the alleged events and encouraged apparently by mr max clifford were mainly men.
hence my comment about money changing hands

just reading the comments of jimmy saviles nephew who said according to the report

''I just think it's very, very sad you can say these things after someone's died and the law says you can't defend yourself when you're dead.''

I WAS THINKING HOW WOULD THIS WORK THEN IF THEY CHANGED THE LAW SO YOU WERE ALLOWED TO DEFEND YOURSELF WHEN YOU RE DEAD WOULD THEY DIG YOU FROM YOUR GRAVE  AND PUT YOU IN THE COURT ROOM FOR QUESTIONING

it amazes me that people like wolfatthedoor can make statements so boldly when they clearly know nothing about the subject they are posting about.

king's accusers were not anonymous,
they certainly made no money from taking their story to trial.
but hey ho- internet experts need not look at the facts.
just a witheringly cynical outlook will do.
it makes you look BIG and CLEVER.

Guardian Mrach 8 2005

"Celebrity provokes fantasies, particularly when guided by saturation coverage in the media," he says. "We have a legal system which allows anyone to be convicted of crimes which occurred decades ago, without any proof or corroboration, and with the accuser allowed anonymity while the accused becomes the victim of detailed negative publicity (which provokes further claims). Then there's a compensation payment structure which creates a motive (up to £33,000 in awards) and more cash for media interviews."

Stott has guarded sympathy for King's argument. "As a result of the publicity, a lot of men came forward saying King abused them. You have to ask why they took so long - decades, in fact - to complain."

King has no doubt about the reason. He blames ubiquitous publicist Max Clifford for informing his accusers that there was cash to be made from claiming they were abused by him and selling their stories to the tabloids.

Clifford, responding to King's claims for the first time, is unequivocal in his reply: "Yes, I would plead guilty. I've done everything I could to show up Jonathan King for what he really is. I'm very happy to have succeeded in some small way. The men who came to see me [about King] went to the police and I have a letter in my office from the chief of police in Surrey thanking me for my help in bringing him to justice."

He continues: "In my experience, paedophiles always try to justify themselves and never show remorse. I spent a great deal of time with his victims. They all came to me, I never went looking. It was a very emotional experience. In my view what he did to them was unforgivable."

As you see I do not just make things up and I have not the slightest interest in looking big or clever
in fact I do not give two shyts what you or any other anonymous individuals on the internet think of me tbf
I am just commenting after having read that article on what I perceive to be similarities between the two cases

William Gladstone who gave a lot of time to helping " ladies of the night " was accused of having inappropriate motives by a biographer some years after his death. His sons called the biographer a cad, bounder and liar. He sued them for libel and lost. Saville presumably left enough for somebody to do the same.

So, despite the fact that convicted paedophiles Chris Denning,Tam Paton and King all hung around the same youth club preying on young boys it is merely a coincidence.
Because an abuser connot see the fault in himself and blames the victims themselves and Max Clifford.
And uses a potential criminal injuries payout to justify his warped perceptions of what happened.
sorry, you do NOT know what you are talking about.

I am just quoting more or less whats in that article and do not claim any special knowledge
neither do I hold any particular brief for either king or saville
its just my humble contribution to the great debate

If any abuse took place it would have been impossible for the kids to get a conviction. Who would believe them? That is the paedo's strongest weapon..."nobody will believe you, you're just a kid".
Thank God times have changed.
The victims of any offence that may, or may not, have taken place will still find it just about impossible to construct a case as individuals but, if enough claimants come forward, that could change.

I think that any of you who imagine these claims are 'compensation-based' should try to use a little imagination.

I don't know about all this now. Reading these posts and listening/watching the news, it's all very upsetting. I used to love watching 'Jim'll Fix It' when I was a child. I liked the theme tune too. Now it all reminds me of unpleasantness.

I thought he owned racehorses but it appears he did not.

you are quoting from the article stuff that King himself has said as fact.
do you have any idea how the mind of an abuser works?clue-Max Clifford explains it in the same article.
The victims in the J King trials names are known, somehow this piece of filth recieved a shorter sentence than he should have because the way the judge decided that the charges should be split along with evidence.
Now, you tell me why the judge made that decision to the astonishment of the Police that bought the case?

never mind the sanctimonious nonsense about 'he's not here to defend himself' . Judge the pile of evidence you are presented with and make a judgement FFS.
i judge him obviously guilty.   The only people who can't see it are those who don't want their cosy ideas overturned.

I read an expert in law has said that on the evidence he has available he would have certainly been arrested if he was still alive shame the scum bag wasnt arrested 30 years ago and chucked in the slammer for a long time. hes a filthy low life.

Having read an account of one of Savile's victims, it has become apparent that the reason why she didn't reveal her ordeal sooner was because her and others were afraid of being sued by Savile when he was alive (apparently he was highly litigious, presumably to protect his 'reputation'). Therefore the UK's libel laws need to be reformed in order to prevent anyone from hiding their misdemeanours in such a manner.

The Coleen Nolan clip posted on the previous page was interesting as i saw that when it was on TV originally and must have been 8-10 years back ,when Saville was still alive, and i recall thinking that the producers must be very confident that Saville and his lawyers would not fancy contesting that ( for fear of bringing forward other accusations presumably)

errr! excuse me - is there to be a court case ?? against saville!!?  I think not seeing he is dead.
therefore there will be no evidence.  SON THERE IS NO EVIDENCE as ther cannot be - no court case
so what is the point of all these stories
If the guy was a huge pervert why didn't all these media/entertainment/bbc stars not speak out at the time
Now they are fkn hypocrites who allowed saville to supposedly abuse all these poor kids (allegedly)
quite happy to gob off on the media now, but what about the poor kids they allowed saville to abuse eh!!!???
They didn't care less then - nearly as bad as abusers
and we have seen lots of this in yorkshire and oxford too haven't we!!!

Whilst undoubtedly true Moisok (Yes you Esther Rantzen! A thousand times you!!!), this still doesn't get away from the notion that Savile was a serial child-abuser. The lack of spine among his contemporaries and the media is an interesting side story.

By:

it is the impossibility of proving it as I guess we are talking about a court of law which cannot happen as he is dead
hence my cynicism about the whole thing - why now, why the stories - who wants to make money out of it
the stories were there 20 30 years ago!!?? or am I wrong

in a couple of threads I've noted the remark "did he have horses in training with Sir Henry Cecil?"
It may or may not have been from the same poster.

Is it a euphemism? If so what's it for?

The BBC have a history of misleading the public... The problem is it is such a large organisation it will simply be a case of pass the buck with no responsibility wasnt realy my fault attitude.

It is almost impossible to investigate the organisation as no independent organisation could investigate them they are the organisation that investigates others as if they are a saintly organisation.Yet it seems they are too happy to cover things up themselves. When anyone questions or accuses the bbc the usuall tactic is character asasination and discredit the messenger of truth thus deflecting the blame away from themselves

did we ever get an understanding of why Gary Speed did what he did?  was there something shameful or did it really come out of the blue, an innocent tragedy?
