I would guess, on occasions where my concentration has wandered somewhat, I may have drifted up to 110mph or thereabouts. Same here PM. The amount of carnage I saw, whilst driving each day on the motorway, approx 35 miles, made me watch out for other drivers. They drive too close, they interchange lanes, I always used to watch in my mirror. Ironically, they will be the same ones who complain about the price of fuel, if they learned to drive properly they could reduce it by a third, or more. |

That is a pretty shocking admission by you! I would rather be in the company of someone doing 150mph (given safe conditions)who knows what he is doing! I wouldn't like to be a passenger in a car, where the driver is speeding, and not in control of his senses! |

145 mph (with the wing mirrors folded in)
But it was in Germany so not a problem... |
|

What if someone was trying to undertake you - no wing mirrors to see? That could have been dangerous

135 M4 Llanelli about 12 years ago. 2am and in a hired Rover.. thought bo££ox.. just do it!
Slowed down to around a ton and it felt like I was standing still. |

Look like Slippy Blue wins this one.
What on earth was he driving at 154mph? |

Yeah I was going to put them out again at 160 mph, but someone without wing mirrors pulled out in front of me and I had to slow down... |

Was that speedo speed or satnav speed? Or Police radar speed? :) |

Is that kind of thinking that nobody will be going any faster? A few years ago I was on the A64 near York, in the cooling down dusk of a beautiful day. I was overtaken by something so fast, that I couldn't say what it was (btw I know my cars). It was wide and low and loud, and when it passed me I was doing at least 70mph, and the the thing created so much wind that I was just about sucked out of my lane (no sucking comments please)! I will swear that it was doing well over 180mph |

No it reduces the drag to get an extra 1 or 2 mph... |
|

I am full well aware of that but my question still applies!

You still have the rear view mirror and not likely to get undertaken whilst overtaking on a 2 lane road... |
|
By:
Is weird how they have a speed limit on the 3 lane section and then when it goes to a crappy surface two lane section there's no speed limit...
|

skipthatstep..... exactly what I have been saying since my first admission on here!
It's all well and good, even if illegal, if it doesn't put others life in danger! I was once driven from a night out in Harrogate, with five of us in a crappy Triumph Herald. I don't recall ever being so terrified and was asking him to stop so I could walk home (25 miles). |

120 mph in my Golf GT PD TDI on the way back from Reading dogs. A long, deserted road and straight as an arrow. Was a bit more left under my toe too which surprised me. Never felt out of control either which was very surprising too.
Wouldn't go over 85 mph these days. |

approx 125mph not deliberately on the short stretch of m3 bwtween the m25 and where it changes to the a316 at sunbury. the one and only posh car i've ever owned, no sensation of speed, glanced down at the speedo and scared the living sh1t out of myself. changed the car a couple weeks later for a normal car!

Rop, it was an empty M5 motorway. I was in a calibra....beautiful motor. When I noticed I was doing 107, I dont know what scared me. It didnt feel fast. I think it was just the surprise of doing over a ton as I had been used to driving an old metro.

110 in the UK, 130 abroad (Italy) for me
Germany the best for this - I was slouching in the inside lane at about a ton and still getting comfortable done by Beamers and Audis on the outside. |

On reflection what a c*** i was then. ![]() When we were kids we wandered from east London on bikes across Woolwich Ferry to all over that area One day, one of our mates kept moaning about not being able to keep up with us While we sat and had a smoke at the top of Shooters Hill somebody removed the brake blocks from his bike He had no trouble keeping up on the way down ![]() ![]() |
