p.s have an x box and a WI now, had a PS3 b4 that but never play them really as can't be bothered. Gaming was much better back in the halcyon days of wide eyed wonderment!!
The last game I really played to death was Championship Manger on the PC the first few seasons - it consumed my life for a while. Also PGA Tour Golf 2 on the Mega Drive was a time quencher. Used to play for skins for real £ v anyone who would take me on. I was mustard  |

Sometimes when I trawl through ebay ads and see some of the old computers up for a tenner, I think about buying them just for the crack and maybe even to store, in case they become vintage one day.

The evolution of that was to then use the 1 line of the dreaded machine code which mimicked the Spectrum loading screen

Finalists (in approx order), but still trailing in the aforementioned games wakes, are... Colonization New Zealand Story Desert Strike series Arkanoid some boxing coach game that I can't remember the name of - the fitness coach was called Jim in the Gym though assorted 90s Championship Managers I used 2000 as my cutoff point for 'retro'. Two games from that year that would have made the final had I included it are The Sims and Europa Universalis. The later in particular is quite impressive in that the last 30 pages or so of the manual alone provide a better precis of European history between 1492-1792 than the national curriculum. |

Those were the days, a new game on the shelves, enticing cover, screen shots look good too, £8.99 RRP but never mind, dash home and wait 5 minutes for it to load in...only to find it is absolutely shyte and the screen shots were from the coin op arcade version.
