Back in the pre-mobile days I don't remember getting off a plane and there being a mad dash to the public call boxes to see if there were any messages left back at the office.
Nowadays, the wheels have barely touched the tarmac and people are panic turning on their mobiles in case they've missed something life threatening during the past 90 minutes. |

As a kid there was one opposite my parents house. We used to put shoe polish on the receiver then go back home and ring the number as people passed by and watch them answer it. Innocent fun.
