I was expecting a bit of a backlash on here, but, presumably, they are not up yet.

Could be a nice little earner, when the kids are hustling outside the shop, for someone
to buy smokes and cider.

Seeing that money has no value to them, as it was probably "nicked" from their mum's purse
in any case, they would hand over a tenner for the cider alone!

The young teenagers will turn to another cheaper drug. They will always find away of getting a buzz.

You cant price kids out of anti social behaviour. Directional change is needed. A feel good factor with more opportunities to expand their potential.

The numerous bars and cafés in the Houses of Parliament are to start charging £3.05 for a pint of Stella – up from the previous price of £2.40 but still considerably cheaper than tariffs in most central London pubs.
A pint of Becks is to rise from £2.20 to £2.90, as will a pint of Guinness.

If Camera-on really wanted to try and stop binge drinking he'd pass a law that supermarkets can't sell it, not put the price up.

Is the minimum price extra profit for the supermarket or the government?

Well it certainly won't be for the manufacturer, who will be well stuffed whatever, and profit for the retailer would be ridiculous,and it can't be VAT so it has to be duty (in the same way that cigarettes are taxed)!

Not sure as to the mechanics of how this is accounted for!

In the end it's just another lie, by the money grabbing b@stards, to claw in money to support all of their

will it affect beer or spirits? havent drank cider in ages so it may not ffect me

Will affect beer and spirits too and directly or indirectly will push up the price of all alcohol.

If white lightning now costs the same as Strongbow etc they aren't going to be paying all that money on advertising creating a brand image in order to be considered as 'budget' cider. And when they put their price up the designer/premium ciders e.g Magners will do the exact same to mantain their role in the market. Same for beer/spirits etc.

Absolute bullshit to say only the dossers who drink vile cheap pish will be affected. Just more profit for big business.

landlords are entitled within the law to refuse also to serve

There could be a montering system on alcohol quotas in bars and clubs. Very difficult to police though.

Said low paid people can be monitored and protected in a pub...it's at home they're likely to get seriously drunk...and THEN go out and cause problems.

Cannabis is the polar opposite of alcohol..

Let them get stoned it would be much more peaceful world. The only time they would go out on a weekend would be to get some munchies.

I've barely used, but the heavy users I've known had only one thing in common, being desperate bores. That said, I agree, nothing like the social dmage alcohol causes. A lot of the users I've known had problems, but it's possible cannabis was as much the solution as the cause. My life they were tiresome though.

Alcohol is a depressent, also a with violent symptoms. Cannabis can cause psychosis, Horses for courses everything in moderation. The biggest problem in this country is that a huge number of people want to numb their senses by getting wrecked because they aint happy otherwise.
